in the paid version, do you also not get to pick a car for the first to races and have to use what they give you?

and the ai is fudgy horrid, ive been hit off the road by them so many times, and then the game penlizes you for a "cut corner"   ..   any way to turn that shame off?  im sick of getting penalized for an ai running into the back of me

You get used to that.  
No you pick your car, almost always.

is there a way to turn off the giant flashing score at the top so i can just forget about it?  and im doing tour, and in every single event so far, ive done 7..  you have 1 car to pick from.   Im level 10 now and still dont get to pick. im guessing all events in tours are like this?

I don't think so, but really at some point you learn to ignore it.  
I think it's like that because you don't have the full game.  I recall some had specific cars, but almost all gave you at least a few options.

ah, well then they set up this trial terribly cause its not making me want to upgrade in the slightest lol  i realize i shouldnt get the whole game, but i expected to atleast be able to chose from 2 cars.. lol

its really not winning me over so far, and im trying really hard

Meh, Just buy the full game it's only 25, and it's actually really good. Sounds like they screwed up the demo. Which at this point i'm not surprised. They really dropped the ball, it could have been a really good franchise that i doubt well see a sequel to.
