Switch joycon release mechanism issues

It's worried me since day one that the joycons slide up to remove instead of down to remove. Sure it would have required a change to how docking worked, but it'd completely solve this issue.

You'd think when designing the release latches that the first port of call would be testing they actually worked and continued to do so with use!

Why the hell is this thing being so rushed?  Nintendo didn't shift development to the Switch recently, they've been making this thing for a few years already.
