I don't really know how other games have done when they're just starting on twitch, to compare. I know that most big games have a large spike in their first day then drop off but this seems bigger than normal

Yeah, I tried googling if there's something like a list that shows the record highs particular games have achieved on Twitch, but it doesn't seem like that exists.

I went to my local electronics/games retailer earlier today hopping that they'd maybe already sell it 2 days early but I had no luck. I'll probably go tomorrow again, one day before launch worked with UC4 so I'm hoping it'll work with this as well.
