Xbox is not doomed but they are hardly growing their brand or market, they are just attracting the same customers and have lost a ton of others. The scorpio must reinvigorate interest in the brand or they are in trouble.

Software and services are doing pretty good, so that's the silver lining. However they're not doing well enough to negate the drop in hardware revenue.

If Xbox revenue as a whole takes a hit from January up to Scorpio's release and the Scorpio isn't able to make up for that drop, then Microsoft Corp is going to tighten up the Xbox division's budget even more.
