The Switch presentation was bad, but what are our thoughts on the Switch itself?

Are you personally interested, and how successful do you think it will be?

I just got a 3DS and I own a Wii U so I wouldn't have been getting a switch anytime soon anyway, but that price is too much for me. Hopefully there's a price cut to $250 or even $200 in the not too distant future. Zelda is by far the best looking announced game but I can just play it on Wii U. If anything, I feel like the Wii U will have the better version of the game. 3D Mario looks great but I'm really off put by the ugly humans in it. I'll be able to hold off on buying that game. Splatoon 2, MK8, and Xenoblade 2 are games I might be interested to play once I own a switch but they sure aren't system sellers to me. Realistically I'll buy a Switch at the very end of the generation, just like how I just got my first 3DS.

Mass market wise, I really can't have much hope. Wii U had great games yet it only managed 10 million. Unless Switch can do some great casual focused marketing, it'll sell even worse. Don't get me wrong, there is a ton of hype right now, but I fear that'll disappear once the first game drought happens. $300 was such a stupid price.

Not good.  The 3DS launched well... then its sales came crashing down.  Same with the Wii U.  It'll be sold out at launch.  After?  Very very bad.

Unfavorable. Storage is too small and the peripheral stuff is costly. Some games looked good, but there were a bunch of others that did not. 3rd party support is iffy.

switch looks worse than i imagined it ever could be.

i skipped wiiU though so if all the best wiiU library gets ported and switch has a decent run then i might buy it in 3 years or so when it is cheap.

I think the device itself is okay.
I like the concept, I like the idea of a home console that you can take with you.  And the drawbacks don't bother me that much (power wise).  Battery life is expected.  I doubt I'd even use it that long away from a charger....

Games are a mixed bag.  It's slightly better than I was expecting.  (I expected really really bad.)  But Nintendo hopefully has something for E3.
But then again, I'm someone who likes Skyrim....  :P
Super Mario Odyssey looks really weird, but very nice.  I'd probably get Mario Kart because I'm a sucker.
Zelda might be good.

Would I personally get it?  No.
I need either serious price cuts or a serious avalanche of games to fall out.  Or a good mix of the two.

Will it be successful?  I doubt it.
Kind of reminds me of the Wii U in a lot of ways.  Trying to replicate Wii's success without any understanding of why that happened.
I don't think a regular console would work, there's too much competition. Why buy Nintendo good-console, when you can buy a PS5? They would have to knock it out of the park to pull it off.

The concept of the console I absolutely love and I think Nintendo have a great idea here. However the execution is very poor. Price is too high, battery life too low, not enough games and third party support, not enough storage, paid online now and many other points.

The vast majority of my issues with it will be solved with time. The price will go down, the console will be refined and there will be games released. I'm almost certain I'll get it within a few years.

I'm just upset because they may have screwed this up and put themselves in big trouble. Also I was hoping I'd like it enough to buy it this year

the switch itself.

terribly expensive for the specs.  too out of date to intice me as a home console.

too big to be a good moblie. the smartphone reliance is dumb.

the software is the key part though.  things like 1-2switch and arns tell me all i need to know.  nintendo is going to continue to put their effort into garbage software instead of things i'd care about.  1 game a year isn't worth the space in me house.

i forget who said it but i like the RV analogy.  a shaming home console. a shaming mobile.  but hey,. you can take you console with you.

Kerotan

Terrible console.

Terrible price.

Terrible power.

Terrible 3Rd party support.

Terrible 1St party support (full of kids games).

Terrible online paid service.

If I was to sum up the console in 1 word: TERRIBLE!

It's Nintendo. Were you expecting R rated games?

Teen, mature e10...  Ya know, variety which is a huge complaint for them...  Ya know, people were saying Nintendo learned things

Dr. Pezus

It feels more like what the WiiU should've been than a generational jump

My thoughts on the pricing of the console, peripherals and games:
