After this whole thing I'm still kinda confused why so many people thought that Nintendo was finally "getting it"...

Storage is going to be a hidden cost. 32GB is far from enough and even though the Switch isn't using a proprietary format, the cost still adds up. A good 128GB micro-SD card costs around $40 and 128GB might not be enough if that space is used up really quickly.

is there any good news about this system?   everything looks like crud so far.

Zelda at launch and Nintendo might go 3rd party in a couple years, lol.

I don't think it was that bad.
Some decent things about the system.

But they need to do a lot more.  Cut price, and not charge for online.

it was horrible.

Someone on Facebook on a news article is arguing that 32 gigs is enough and you shouldn't expect to not have to upgrade the storage

What were you expecting?
If you were expecting a Nintendo PS4, then yeah it was horrible.
If you were expecting a Nintendo console, I really don't see what makes it horrible.

Xenoblade, Splatoon, a new Super Mario game, that's basically the entire reason people buy a Nintendo system and they have announced it before release.
Let alone Skyrim, and the couple of other games shown.

"complaining the switch wouldn't run AAA games as well as other systems is like complaining tesla doesn't make diesel engines. Nintendo doesn't make those type of systems"
Holy crud Nintendo fans are so stupid

If you're going all digital, then you absolutely need to buy a micro-SD card. Jury is still out on how much storage you need if you go strictly all physical. If the patches and DLC take a lot of space, then 32GB is not enough. Digital-only games are also a thing to take into consideration.

If this was a Nintendo E3 or other type of show, I'd give it a 5/10. Poor pacing, few games, and some negative news about price and online.

But this was their launch event for a new system! PS4 had Knack, Infamous, the witness, Killzone, the order, and Don't Starve all announced by this time.

Xbox had Forza, Quantum Break, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Halo, Project Spark, Kinect Sports, Killer Instinct, and Sunset Overdrive.

Plus that's ignoring all the multiplat stuff announced back then like FF15 and KH3.

It's not just that Switch has fewer games leading up to release, but that this presentation made it feel like the device has no games. Sonic, MK8, Bomberman, Minecraft, etc. should have been announced like propper titles to pad the show. Putting footage of them in the montoge at the end was the stupidest way to handle their announcements.

you are expecting me to think a console had a good reveal because it had 3 big named games on it?

They showed a strong lack of third party devs and games on the system

the new IP they showed where stupid mini games like 1,2 switch and Arms.

the price is way to expensive to what the system is capable of.

their online infrastructure is clearly not ready or up to par. they will include a paid service by holiday 2017? that raises more questions than it answered

Skyrim is a port of a 5+ year old game. NBA and Fifa are sport titles that release on almost every piece of hardware available including smartphones and tablets.

poorly executed battery life, as expected.

and again, where are the games? a MK8 port? ohh spaltoon 2 coming in a few months, zelda at launch, and mario in the holiday. is that supposed to get me excited? these are the type of games that didnt sell the WiiU. they sure as hell wont sell the switch. XBX2... when is that even coming? based on the last time they revealed an xenoblade game its a LONG way off

instead of me pointing out whats lacking and whats wrong. you would be better off saying what was actually good in the confrence.

ohh, and i dont give a rats dog how many virtual ice cubs are in my joy-con controller.

Some of the first party games looked great but that's about it. Mario, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 and Zelda were all good, that's where it ends.

There was way too little information given out. Power of the system? Nope. Battery life? Between 2.5 to 6 hours? Come on. Launch titles? You will need to find these yourself but don't worry aside from Zelda they won't be worth a dang anyways.

When the original Switch video came out I thought they were deliberately focusing on only showing launch games and already thought that that was a little port heavy. But now you are telling me that that's essentially a game highlight reel for all of 2017? How can things like Mario Kart 8 and fudgy Skyrim, a game from 2011, not be ready at launch?

Also how can Nintendo still not be able to get 3rd parties on board? I saw some people say that the X1 and PS4s launch lineup wasn't any bette either, but those two essentially got all big third party game from that holiday season, meanwhile the Switch is getting nothing. Mass Effect, For Honor, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Tekken 7, South Park The Fractured but Whole all games that are coming around the Switch launch that aren't coming to the system. The closest thing to a current 3rd party port that the Switch is getting is Steep, Ubisoft failed skiing IP. Other than that who are they putting on stage? The guy that does the Yakuza games and Suda51 to tell us that they are making a game for the Switch and some dude from EA telling us for what felt like 10 minutes that they are bringing Fifa to the Switch, whew ooh baby.

But I think we all know why not more third party ports are coming, I already read rumours that the Fifa Switch version is based on the 360/PS3 version, the freaking system is underpowered once again. Which wouldn't be a problem if it was then at least priced appropriately but it isn't. If you don't care about the portability part then you are left with a $300 or in my case 330€ system that comes with no game and is significantly behind its cheaper competition. But it doesn't stop there, accessories are overpriced across the board, especially the joy cons since they had to add so much shame that nobody asked for in those once again and some of the games are ridiculously priced as well. 1, 2 Switch is $50, Arms is $60 and did you know freaking Capcom is rereleasing freaking Street Fighter 2 on the system with 2 new characters (Evil Ryu and Violent Ken) and that they asking 40 freaking dollars for that shame?
All of that on top of having to pay to play online on the Switch now as well and while we don't know what that will cost yet, we do already know that their idea of "free games" is a lot more stingy than the competitions, with Nintendo only lending out NES or SNES games on a monthly basis with their service.

...jeez this turned into quite the rant, goddammit Nintendo.
