I hope star marine plays well. Early impressions seem positive.

Either way, I'm sure it will be improved over time.

Any updates on impressions? No clue where to look for them.

From what I've gathered, it's enjoyable but very basic right now. Which is to be expected since it's the first implementation of a module. Only two maps and two modes. You can only choose between light and medium armor. Loadout doesn't have many weapons. Only four primaries to choose from right now. It quite often has lag issues. Visually, it's very sharp. Some people praise the lack of a grenade indicator while others want one. The moments of fighting in zero-g really give it a rather unique angle compared to many FPS games. It can be very rewarding to use it as a shortcut across the map but it can also be punished harshly because of lack of cover and limited movement. I can easily see it becoming one of those things where people play Star Citizen just for Star Marine.

The other 2.6 additions are getting a lot of praise from backers. The new Caterpillar ship has a ton of people very happy. Especially since it wasn't supposed to be released until 3.0, which is not expected by many until around March at the earliest. The new Pirate Swarm mode added to Arena Commander has been greatly appreciated since Vanduul Swarm is very limited in the ships you fight. Pirate Swarm has a much greater variety. Pick-up items also drop from enemies now, making Arena Commander feel more like a game and less like a "despair simulator". They also added Bleeding to the game. Which works in both the PU and Star Marine. Basically, if one of your body parts takes too much damage, you'll start bleeding out. If you don't find a MediPen and use it soon enough, eventually you'll die. The more body parts that are bleeding, the faster you bleed out.

There are new camera and social functions that people are happy about. Especially now that Local Chat automatically shows up and is easy to respond to. Previously, you had to press a function key to bring up a chat window to talk and see replies. This pulled you out of control of your character at times. The only complaint right now is that the chat window is too close to the center of your view. A lot of people want it moved further left and overlapped by your MobiGlass when you use it. Right now it can cover up your available missions when you try to look at them. There were also a lot of updates to character animations, minor additions to various locations, changes to the flight model, and so on. People are much happier with 2.6 than they were with some of the earlier 2.0 patches. It's just a shame that right now most of the people at CIG are on holiday break so a lot of the things that have broken since they left have remained broken.
