It could be. I'm curious how they are going to try and sell this completely unrequested sequel to the world. They can't expect a good reaction from showing this off on stage, right?

People think of Knack as a joke but I don't think very many dislike it. If the show also showed Crash footage I doubt many haters would care. Plus Knack got PS4 pro support. That's a good sign Sony thinks at least some people are interested. $20 digital only sequel why not.



Might as well compile all my predictions.

• Knack 2 announced
• Elite Dangerous for PS4 announced. Potentially Season 3 "space legs" announced as well.
• More Mass Effect footage
• More Death Stranding footage
• No Spiderman footage
• Dreams footage+release date
• Ni No Kuni 2 stuff
• Marvel VS Capcom announced
• No Crash, GOW, or TLOU2
• Detroit gameplay

• Dreams having a proper demo as opposed to a demonstration. Release date will be announced
• WiLD finally returns to the forefront after its disappearance after PGW 2015
• Gameplay footage of Crash
• Ni No Kuni II gameplay. Maybe a release date
• Marvel vs Capcom announcement
• Spiderman gameplay. No release will date announced
• RDR2 full reveal
• Detroit gameplay
• Gravity Rush 2 trailer
• Death Stranding engine announcement and trailer with some gameplay. No live demo

They tweeted this back in August. Sounds like whatever they're working on is much bigger than Entwined was.

Then they tweeted this about a week ago.

What do you guys think? Surprise showing at PSX? We haven't seen anything from them in two and a half years. Seems about the right time to announce something.

I'm not so sure it's a digital-only game this time around. For one, they're claiming it's much bigger than their first game. More ambitious. Granted, that's not exactly hard to accomplish when looking at Entwined but I'm going to guess it's substantial. Second, they've likely been working on it since Summer 2014. Which means even if we assume a Summer 2017 release, that's 3 years. Not that digital-only games can't take that long, looking at you Rime, but I doubt Sony would be happy about an internal project for a digital-only game that has taken this long. Looking at how Sony has handled "failures" this gen, they probably would have pulled the plug already and shut Pixelopus down.

People haven't been speaking about this much, but the symbol on Akuma's back is "god" or whatever it was (Godly maybe?) from Shin Akuma in Capcom vs Snk 2.  Plus they had the announcer close the show last year at Capcom Cup or Evo (Can't remember which).  Maybe they got Capcom vs SNK 3 coming in.
