Quote from: Legend on Oct 28, 2016, 06:54 PMDock and tablet controllers are included. Pro controller and dock thing for tablet controller are sold separately.

It's the same Tegra x1 or x2 chip.

As the Pi guy pointed out, the Nvidia shield is only $200 and has essentially the same internals.
the tablet is $200.
the tablet + a controller is $250

nvidia makes the internals for the nvidia shield.  nvidia won't provide them to nintendo at cost so there is going to be a mark up so nvida makes a profit. since nintendo also plans to provide that is two profit margins passed onto the customer.

nvidia shield only has 16 Gb of drive space.  if nintendo has any expectation of recieving third party support this will have to be at least 50 Gb just to guarentee any ONE game fits on the machine.

if you believe the rumors switch will have double the ram.

i just don't see this for less than $300.

but Nvidia makes the chips. meaning its more expensive for Nintendo. also the shield released a year and a half ago. add that the NS should release with atleast 500GB HDD, vs a 16 GB SSD for the shield, as well as the Dock, it should have more than 3GB ram if they ever want to receive third party games, and the costs start to pile up. no way are they releasing for 200$, have good specs, and will be profitable.

im thinking 250-300. no way is it cheaper.

if the NS is 300$ its dead on arrival. maybe it could sell in japan due to being a portable. but in the west it would be dead. PS4/Xb1 are with a game and at 300$. 8 months later they will be 250$ with a price cut, and dropped even further to 200$ on black friday. that will be just 8 months after the NS releases. price wise, they just wont be able to compete.

No. It is custom and I believe based in Pascal.
Old Dev kits were X1 btw... that why there are some leaks about it but that was before Pascal launch and/or nVidia/Nintendo finish the specs.

"Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards."

nVidia just said that but you call be sure it is custom and based in Pascal (same actual GTX Titan arch "world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards").
It uses a custom API created by nVidia called NVN (instead OpenGL, DirectX, etc)... that is not something new because Sony uses a custom API too and not the popular used in PC.

Could be cheap.

That's not good news...

Lordfancypants

If this thing launches at $300 it better be able to say it somehow someway is more powerful than Xbox one s.

I know diehards say power doesn't matter but even kids are aware of which machine has the most power whether it matters or not.

If it's weak than price it at $200.

Is this where I talk favorably about myself?

Max King of the Wild

Yeah, how is that good news?

Slow OS or missing features.

The OS is mostly for gaming only... 4GB is fine because it will render in 720p.

1GB for OS + 3GB for gaming for a 720p screen is killer.

Aura7541

A $200 price point would be a sweet deal. However, something tells me that Nintendo will launch it at $250.

I don't feel like looking for switch thread so I'll post this here.

Someone needs to post this to goonkids thread on vgc. Breakaway controllers and portable video out aren't innovative

What about my 4K T.V.?  Cause you know, according to Nintendo, the screen is secondary.  A "console" releasing in 2016 without 1080p output is a joke.  Especially when 4K consoles are releasing before and after the switch comes out.

Wii U uses 1 GB for OS and it's minimal.

this thing is so fudgy confusing.

great power for a handheld in a terrible form factor with a rumored crud battery and too high price

horrible power for a console (which is what they are calling it) guaranteed to not get third party support that will cost the same as an xbox or ps4 without a library of games all in support of a feature that is dumb.

Sorry but Nintendo never aimed 4K with a portable hardware.

It needs power to render in 720p and enhanced that in dock for HDTV. It will most delivery Xbox One's level of graphics in dock.
