Haha sure you can argue it's stupid but the fact is people liked their show.

Maybe Nintendo's target market will be just as pleased with their Switch strategy.

("Switch" is such a stupid name. Is this the first video game system named after a standard object?)

Sure, people can like it. People can also like two girls one cup. That doesn't mean watching Ariana Marie eat out Alex Grey isn't better in every aspect

Seriously, Nintendo failed at this reveal. No info. No price. No specs. No game announced. Which would be fine if they assured us it'd be coming later this month or something. But as now? How do they expect to take pre-orders?

Price and specs are probably bad. Maybe they're just wanting to give the general concept time to sink in so that the details are less of a shock.

The dock is just a charging station... So basically it's a handheld device.

A handheld with shaming button placement

Dock also increases processing power by letting the system run at a higher clock.

Plus it has those detachable controllers.

Also, anyone having a good laugh at the, "our idea is so revolutionary that we can't show it till it's about to launch so no one steals it."

fudgy Nintendo, Sony has been doing that since Vita launch. You did it with Game boy advanced

Every one pegged this as the concept

So? An Atari Jaguar would still be more entertaining than PSVR

nintendo's market will love anything nintendo does,.. but nintendos market is small and shrinking.  nintendo needs playstation/xbox fans to care or nintendo needs smartphone/tablet gamers to care.

what i see is a device that is going to have relatively shaming specs for a relatively high price in support of a feature i don't want.  i see a device that probably won't get many 3rd party games. i see a device that doesn't even change gameplay making it worth having as a side console like wii was.

smartphone gamers will see a device that isn't portable are even half as functional as the device they already own probably.  unless this thing runs android and has full app access just can't see this be appealing to them and i really doubt it runs android.

this is a console for nintendo fans that would have bought the switch if it was literally a switch.

This hasn't actually been confirmed.  I mean, showing a video of Zelda's graphics getting worse when taking out isn't really any proof of anything.  I also agree with Max on the E3 reveal.  "Journalists" saying Nintendo "won" E3 just because Nintendo caught up with the times doesn't mean much.  Also the fact that Nintendo isn't showing anything until, what can possibly be launch, is a very bad sign.  I honestly hope the "Switch" is 150 cad, cause I know the Vita's niche is about to be absorbed, but more than that I wouldn't touch the thing.  I mean, honestly, this does nothing different than what's been done before.  The Gamecube did this with an addon, and the PSP did this in a revision.   This is honestly another pay wall to play Nintendo games (In my case, niche Japanese games).

Laura Dale: NX battery 3 hours max, dock WILL improve performance, touchscreen - NeoGAF

QuoteLaura (one of the reliable sources of Switch information so far) wrote a huge article about her sources and how she got all her information. I highly suggest reading it. It is located here (any bolded emphasis is mine):http://letsplayvideogames.com/2016/1...orts-and-info/ Multi-touch touchscreen:
QuoteThe "Switch has a multitouch screen" Tweets I am VERY confident in saying that the Nintendo Switch screen is a touch screen, but that is not core to most gameplay. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016 I'll be there for menus, for drawing, for certain games like Mario Maker port etc. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016  I'm confident in saying that the Nintendo Switch's screen is a multi-touch screen. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016 As all Nintendo Switch games need to be playable with the handheld in the console dock, all Switch games will be playable without touch. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016  These tweets were based on information from Source A (Nintendo). As shown above, they knew enough to know when the reveal trailer was coming before the official announcement. They know their stuff.

Additional dock power:
QuoteThe "Switch dock has some additional processing power" Tweets RE: dock, what I've heard is additional processing (lacking specifics atm) for when docked. However, would expect a few secs to switch. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016 If there is additional processing in the dock, I would expect at least a few seconds to swap handheld to console etc. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016  This information again came from sources A (Nintendo), B (Ubisoft) and D (Manufacturing). None could confirm whether the dock is a PlayStation VR-style processing box which helps power higher resolution play when docked, or if docking the console simply allows the handheld to overclock and provides better performance that way. All sources claim the hardware has an easier time running docked compared to when out and about as a portable. Many on Twitter have drawn my attention to this interview with IGN where Nintendo state that "The dock is not the main console unit of Nintendo Switch... The main function of the Nintendo Switch Dock is to provide an output to the TV, as well as charging and providing power to the system." To that, I reply that they repeatedly use the words "main function" and "Main Console" here which still leaves a lot of room for clarity. I believe these statements were aimed at clarifying the Switch was not another Wii U style console rather than saying the dock won't in any way alter game performance. You can't play the dock without the handheld, but that doesn't mean the dock won't improve game performance.

Battery life:
QuoteThe "Battery Life" Tweet To those asking about battery life on Nintendo Switch, I'm hearing "mediocre" battery life. — Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) October 20, 2016 Source A (Nintendo) described the Switch as having a "mediocre" battery life. Source B (Ubisoft) has said a maximum battery life of three hours.

Man my shaming smartphone has warped my perception so bad. 3 hours is awful, right?

Edit: Just checked the Gaf thread and this was the newest comment. Spinning at its finest, lol.
