If you haven't played any Quantic Dream games I'd advise to play some of those. Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US), Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls and epic experiences if you don't mind QTE. Metal Gear Solids are great in you can handle the slow starts and a load of cut scenes, which personally I didn't mind. MGS3 is my favourite for story but the new MGSV has by far the best gameplay out of all of them. MGS4 was great and loved the story but the boss battles were uninspired for a MGS game.

MGSV is one of my favorite games of all time and I was a newcomer to the series.

Heavy Rain is amazing but you have to play it with move to really be blown away by it.

All Uncharteds are pretty good.

GOW3 is incredible.

Killzone Shadowfall is pretty fun imo.

Knack is underrated.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag is wonderful regardless of your thoughts on the franchise.

The Swapper is a great little puzzle game.

The Witness is GOTY for me.

Why did you recommend past games then? Should you right off Uncharted 1,2 and 3 because 4 is ou?t Should you not play past God of Wars because 4 will be released in the future?

And if Lordfancypants starts replying he can talk about our suggestions, the ones he likes the sound of and ones he doesn't then it can lead to other suggestions. With his input we can narrow down games that'll suit him. That's the advantage of forum chat over Google search.
