Gameblog.fr: PS4 Neo to be announced on September 7 in New York - NeoGAF

QuoteWhile all indications pointed to an announcement of the PS4 NEO at the Tokyo Game Show in September, our sources tell us an announcement on 7 September in New York.

Less than a month!

I do hope this is true, simply because I would assume they'd do this unveiling with new game footage to show of the effects, so it should deliver some new gameplay demos of stuff like God of War or something.

Also I still wanna know if that Gaf rumour about God of War and Deep Down being Neo launch window games is actually true.

lol no way.

GTS, The Last Guadrian, CoD, Battlefield, FF15 are all enough games for a launch window. the thing about PS Neo is that games wont be a major factor in hyping and selling it. its specs and price are. because it has all the games a regular PS4 has. and all games will support it from oct this year. so is the extra power worth the price, or not? thats the question. but no need to release games to specifically push the NEO, and work on specifically having launch titles for it.

This is where most prediction are... October release.

You're assuming the Neo will come out this holiday season, there were rumours that it was targeting early next year too. The rumour said that GoW and Deep Down are supposed to be used as showcases for the Neo, the games you listed above will probably barely take advantage of it, aside from GTS which according to the rumour is taking advantage of it in its VR mode.

Sony specifically said that they want to reveal the Neo with experiences that really showcase the differences between it and the normal PS4, I doubt they'd do that with 3rd party games that will probably really just opt for a simple resolution bump or things like TLG.

OsirisBlack has so many conflicting things. Probably best to take everything he says with a huge grain of salt  ;)  ;)  ;)

What if all games just go for a resolution bump primarily?

Then I have no interest in this thing. At least bump framerates, cut loadtimes etc.

Also yeah I agree about Osirisblack, with what Sony has said a release early next year seems somewhat unlikely, if this September rumour turns out to be true. Still I would assume that Sony would want something to show the Neo off with, that works better than just an uprezzed Cod and I would say March could still work as "launch window" for the Neo even if the actual release is in October, if you stretch the definition of that word a little.

I don't know why, but I'm holding on to that believe that Sony is really trying to blow people away by releasing God of War way earlier than people expect it to, I don't know why companies don't do this more, it seems like a super smart marketing move to me, as well as by keeping Capcom quiet about Deep Down (whose trademark they just renewed again btw.) until closer to launch. I think I'm being super naive here, but I wanna believe!!

Exciting times ahead. I'm likely not interested in getting one, but I'm curious to see how Sony handles the reveal.

Deep Down I believe.  The original PS4 wasn't enough for what they were planning (The lighting system was beyond what the PS4 could handle, even Epic had to abandon it).
