Never.

Nobody can see other player even if it is in the same planet/place.

You can't see other players in No Man's Sky - NeoGAF

QuoteTwo players found each other in the same star system. They met on a planet and a space station, stood in the exact same place but were unable to see each other.https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTh...ayer_seriouslyhttp://imgur.com/a/klomu I'm posting this because this was legitimately my biggest question about this game, and it's good to see it answered definitively. Added this to the OP, since people assume that it's been clear as day that this is single player:http://www.universityherald.com/arti...date-video.htm
Quote"No Man's Sky": Is it single-player or multiplayer game?Ultimately, the answer is both. However, the chances of bumping into another player in this colossal universe is extremely thin. Even if 100 players landed on the same planet at the same time, they wouldn't instantly be able to find each other: it's important to remember that "No Man's Sky's planets are the size of real planets.

EDIT:  Adding this for clarity sake. The 2 people that tried this reset their NATs so everything was open, and they both made sure they had PS+ active. Edit: Wasn't going to put this in OP until we had confirmation from a GAFer. Apparently the European editions of the game have stickers on them covering up the online features:

This thread has nothing to do with the mechanic being a lie or not.

2 people where in the same place at the same time.

Except it clearly can and will happen.  Let's not ignore the fact that sean tweeted that they put in a scanner to help find other players. And let's not falsely accuse sean of being a liar.  Yes, he has been vague, but he still needs proper permissions maybe even from sony to give a full statement.  People think just because it's easy to say stuff on the internet that they can just say whatever whenever they want, but that is not the case all the time.  If it turns out that they did lie and when it's confirmed then by all means call him out, but as of now it suppose to still be able to happen.

P.S. I'm not talking about you, just overreactors on gaf.

Also I wouldn't put too much faith into Gaf's "detective work" here.

If it's a problem with servers or just a case of the players not being in the same "lobby" then it could be a bit before two people see each other.  i have no reason to believe sean is a liar.

And no meet happened.

BTW the game start near the same places (and there are key places everybody needs to travel)... of course people will play the same place at the same time... dozen of people like in every other game.

Haha definitely don't do that.  Gaf is always mostly shame, imo.

GAF is love, GAF is life.

I'm hoping it's just server problems too, but there's certainly also reason to believe it's not actually in the game.

I still don't see the reason to put in the scanner to help find other people, and it's not in the game.  Would make the backlash even worse if he really was lying about it all.

Weird way to change a box art...

Ohhhhhh and the best of GAF.

Quote from: flkravenPatient: Doctor, do I have AIDs?

Doctor: Well, the chances of you contracting AIDs are so slim that it isn't even worth talking about.

Patient: But we ran tests, can't you just tell me if I do or don't have it?

Doctor: Wow, I'm so surprised by the amount of people running tests right now. Props to the blood test department for holding up.

Patient: ....

Doctor: People have already found thousands of different diseases. This is incredible!

That's exactly what MS did for unsold launch systems. Cut them open, added dl code to for a, slapped stickers on.
