Horizon Zero Dawn is a much, much better title than Dead Don't Ride. I can't think of many games that relate to their titles that much at all.

What makes a title good is how much it draws people in to the game when they read it on a webpage or see it on a box in a game store. Horizon Zero Dawn, I think, will be much better at that than Dead Don't Ride. In fact I can't think of many more video game titles that sounds better than Horizon Zero Dawn.

Would just "Horizon" have been better? Maybe. I think they took inspiration from Naughty Dog, their games have become Sony's biggest sellers and their one word game titles are always followed by a subtitle now. The Zero Dawn being there adds a bit more intrigue I think, just like Drake's Fortune did.

horizon: zero dawn is a title and subtitle not a random spattering of world.  the franchise is horizon and a great name.  zero dawn invokes an "origins" story is being told in this particular entry in the franchise.
Well, that's just your fault for being close minded. Honestly no offense man, but right now you sound like how I imagine all these people they put on focus groups sound like, when they decide to put another dude with a gun on a game cover.

there is a reason focus groups exist.  bad marketing can destroy a product at market even if the product is good.  we live in the world of tweets,.. you can look a customer in the first 10 seconds.  dead don't ride sounds terrible.  maybe it's more descriptive but that isn't really a criteria that matters.  the only criteria that matters is it makes customer interested in learning more.  i'm not interested.

Really? You can't think of games whose titles relate to them much?

Uncharted? A series about discovering treasures and unmapped, lost cities.

God of War? A franchise, that's literally about the God of War.

Gravity Rush? A game about controlling gravity.

Infamous? A series about how your actions form public opinion about you.

Dreams? A game about creating your own dreams.

Driveclub? A game about driving in a club.

Fifa? Football series.

Call of Duty and Battlefield? Series about war.

Assassin's Creed? A series about being an assassin. Same with Hitman.

Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Motorstorm? Racing franchises.

C'mon man, that shame is everywhere.

Honestly a lot of these only make sense after playing.
What is a game called infamous, is it a shooter about a rogue cop, is it some racing game?
Need for Speed could be a game about a drug dealer.

Some of these only make sense if you understand the game.  You don't understand Horizon, so trying to apply the same kind  of depth to the title is not possible.
What does Halo mean?  What does VizionEck mean?  What does The Last of Us mean? What does Persona mean?  Ask someone who has never played Persona and ask them what kind of game it is, what do you think they will actually say?

Besides that all your examples give different types of descriptions.  How about we actually play the game before deciding how the title intertwines with it?

A handful of people thought the game was called "Horizon: Zero Dawn - Aloy's Journey".

Does anyone know if they announce a steel book outside of the 120 dollar collector's edition?

Take a look at Horizon: Zero Dawn's limited and collector's editions | VG247

Seems there is, it's just not up on amazon yet.

Wonder if the delay or the writing has resulted in the 1700 dislikes on the trailer, quite the circlejerky hyperbole, if it's because of the writing.

It's because Americans have been discovering the dislike button.

That a fact? Who can we thank for that? Call of Duty? ::D

Xbox One helped start the trend I think.

Not joking either. I'm on mobile but I think there are some articles about this.

The whole title: Sounds like random words thrown together.

QuoteGonzalez even promised that the title "will not sound like word soup" by the time you unravel Horizon's story. "You'll be surprised by the emotional resonance."

QuoteSome new, super fudgy sexy screenies (JPEGs but sexy nonetheless) from E3 (some snow action). My veins call out for this game.////////////////
