The mandate of all first party games being on PC without exception is probably going to kill the Xbox brand. Despite fanboy insistence, the gaming community in general does not see Xbox and PC as one and the same. For good reason. It essentially guarantees that PC gamers will never (in context) feel compelled to buy an Xbox device. The brand will lack identity.

lol

Yeap the contradictions brand based.

Fanboys gonna fanboy. It's not as if you didn't have people pooing on the rumors of incremental Xbox One upgrades and then happily dancing at the rumor of a PS Neo.

That said, meh. I am excited for a slim Xbox One with 4k capabilities (it won't play games in native 4k, obviously, but UHD discs for movies would be swell) but if there is a big upgrade coming around the corner, I wouldn't waste time buying a slim version of the weaker one.

I hope that if MS does do an incremental upgrade, it's massive, unlike what the Neo is rumored to be.

Man it must suck to develop console games right now.

Would you upgrade to a slim XBOX ONE if the 1.5 wasn't coming? I've just never thought of slim versions being enticing to current owners. Haha my 360 is still a launch unit without HDMI.

I don't understand why there's a narrative of the PS4 Neo being an incremental upgrade. Based solely off rumors, it's a significant improvement and much larger than any console/handheld upgrade we've seen in the past. A larger jump would put either console in 9th gen territory.

Xbox One 2 6.1TF
PS4k 4.1TF
Well, things are getting rather interesting. Looks like the traditional generational leap is dead.

6TF are they aiming for a 6/700 dollar machine?

Article says around 6, not 6.1.

Either way if true I'm not sure how this fits into their strategy. Current XBOX for cheap people, PC XBOX for nerds and non gamers, and XBOX One 2 for the small crowd who boycotts PC but still wants PC power and has the money to afford it?

I feel this device might be designed to be niche, AKA XBOX ONE elite. A good part of the portfollio, but not a major part.

Half of the flops will come from the cloud :P

I thought the cloud was supposed to ensure new hardware wasn't needed so soon.

2 things about that Polygon article:

1. If the "Scorpio" isn't supposed to come before late 2017, why in the world would it be unveiled this E3?

2. Doesn't the "Scorpio" take all the worries that people have about the PS4k and dial them up to 11?

Yeah Polygon's information doesn't feel as reliable as everyone else's.

The thing is, it seems Microsoft got caught with their pants down again. They might be scrambling to come up with something. If it's true that this new Xbox One isn't coming until late 2017 and rumors turn out to be true that PS4 Neo is releasing late this year, that gives the PS4 Neo a full year to be the far stronger hardware than anything Microsoft has on the market, along with VR capability that was built for it, and it has a wave of momentum it can ride from the previous console that the XB1 can't match. The question needs to be asked, with Xbox One having none of its own actual exclusives going forward and PS4 already running away with it, will the gaming community collectively give a crud about a more powerful Xbox One by late 2017?

The funny part is, that GIF actually applies to you in this situation.
