"Sony is now openly sharing this specification with developers and while Giant Bomb beat us to the punch, we have access to the same documentation. There is no doubt - this is real."

I guess the inevitable E3 announce is true and Sony opened the SDKs do developers with documentation and all.

I didn't mean to type ''almost as''. Oh well, that's what I get.

fudge the haters, I'm happy with this.

An upgrade for those who care about graphics. For those who don't, it won't affect them.

I don't see a down side, as long as devs don't shunt the base versions of their games.

I don't :P.  Unless they put a dedicated graphics card in.  Or crossfire :O

No devs would shunt the base versions now, but a few years from now who knows?

And it it takes 3 years to phase out 4.0 games that's okay. But devs will want accessto the whole user base so probably never unless Sony forces it down the road.

Gaf is so hilarious how they think this thing will make 60fps standard.

Nobody except them care that much about framerate.

Expect a 15 TF PS5.

I hate they focus so much on it. As long as it isn't jumping around all over the place I'm good.

Yeah, as long as the PS4 standard games don't run like shame, I see no problem.

Plus, consumers who are financially conservative and/or don't care about performance can get the PS4 while enthusiasts have the option to go for the upgraded version. There are markets for both, so it all comes down to Sony not screwing up the message.

A few years from now will be the point of a natural generation change anyway.

Btw. I'm about 15 minutes into this weeks PS I love You podcast which is about the new PS4 Neo rumour and this might be the first time I abort this thing so early, I agree with Colin Moriarty on a lot of things but jesus has he been insufferable up to this point in the episode. Some of the things he's saying are just so freaking senseless and overblown. Like saying that all normal PS4 owners will now get the "shaming versions of PS4 games", which is such a massively stupid point as for pretty much any multiplat they are already getting that since PC versions exist, as long as normal PS4 versions don't get worse it's nothing but entitlement to complain about there coming a stronger PS4 that will play games better. Then he's talking about how it will be such a huge headache for software devs because they now have to worry about another SKU, when up to this point most console devs have only had to worry about 2 SKUs, problem being again that there are hardly any console only devs left in the industry and that supporting the PC already means supporting way more possible hardware setups anyway, to act as if adding one more fixed hardware setup in the PS4 Neo would be such a headache is fudgy idiotic, it'd likely be a bigger headache to add the NX into the development of third party games as that will ship with its own tools again, whereas the PS4 Neo will obviously share its tools with the normal PS4.

His whole freaking argument can basically be broken down to "I don't understand how PC gaming works". Jesus.

Some of the rumors were really not appealing, but it sounds like Sony is doing what they should be.

Sure in a few years it might be time for the next generation, but theoretically the PS4K could slow that down.

Porting to NX/XBO/PC are all expensive projects that are only worth it because they increase sales. If porting to Neo took the same amount of work, of course devs and publishers would be upset with that. No game is going to sell significantly more because it supports Neo.

It all depends on how trivial it is to support Neo.

I like Colin, but he's the kind of guy who is so proud of his intellect that he won't admit to making a bad, knee-jerk reaction. "I'm intelligent, therefor anything I say is clearly thought out and is not ignorant in any way".

when the ps4k has 60 fps and ps4 only has 30 fps on a game gamers will immediately brand it as the ps4 sku was gimped.
