Wii Sports was so great because it had infinite replayability.

Packaged stuff needs to not only show what the hardware is capable of, but act as fallback software when you have nothing else to play. VR launch lineups are going to be really really scarce.

Agreed, even if its a smaller indie type game, as long as its a good VR experience they should bundle it.

It's weird, it doesn't feel like it's coming soon at all. People are still barely talking about it online. I also feel that we still don't have all information regarding the launch lineup of PSVR.

Launch is at least less low key than OR and Vive. Those snuck up on me like crazy!


I'm really hoping for official PC support.

VR is going to be a slow burn to success. Assuming it succeeds. Don't be surprised to see little fanfare regarding the launch of any VR devices. This was always going to be a market that succeeds or fails based on word of mouth. Personal experiences of friends and family. Unfortunately, that will take years.

They will love it, I have no doubt.  Everyone I have shown has been blown away.  
The real question I have is how likely are people to spend the money at this point. Not very many I can imagine.

I think it's a matter of the software justifying the purchase. If PSVR has a strong launch lineup and maintains a steady stream of games after launch, then it should not have much difficulty selling. Not to mention the controversy surrounding Palmer Luckey isn't helping the Oculus, so Sony has a good opportunity to grab a huge chunk of that VR pie.

for my VR is too expensive to be an impulse buy, 1st gen games imo tend to suck as developers are still trying to learn what works, and there is a high risk of the market failing.   i won't be putting my money into it for a minimum of 1 year.   ..and probably not even then.  i need to see good games (beyond short lived fun proof of concept games) releasing on a consistent basis to build any confidence on the technologies long term viability. 

and yes i do understand that by not buying i'm contributing to the product not being long term viable.   but again,.. it is too expensive to be an impulse buy.

Software is crucial.  I think a huge thing would be to have people be able to try it out.  It really is something to experience.  You don't really get any kind of feel watching someone else use it or watching a representation.  It's a completely different feel because you get this sense of scale and a sense of being in something.  You are actually in a world, you can turn around, look down.  
Very hard to convey those things.

I get that.  
Sony seems to understand it's a long term thing by a lot of their comments.  And hopefully we see lots of games come out and the price should drop.

yeah,. sony does seem to but they could also easily have their lunch eaten.  while sony is busy trying to create the market ms could easily come in and win the war by waiting until the market is starting to develop and then have a better product on the market. 

kind of an eye toy to wii/kinect situation.
