uuegghhh...is this going to become PS fans NX? A thing that was announced way too early which leads to way too much speculation for way too long? People are already interpreting anything into every tweet Kojima makes or every person he meets and the game's still probably way over a year away from even being shown to the public.

He didn't really announce the title officially.  It's just that it takes 3 years to develop a title.  Which means 2019.

We need to talk about the difference between the phrases "largest game" and "most ambitious project".

I don't think the PS4 will be replaced until 2020 and he probably wants to get started now. Not wait until PS5 hardware is largely settled on. With Microsoft seemingly shifting to more PC gaming and Nintendo not being much of a threat even with a new console incoming, I don't think Sony is in a hurry. I can imagine they feel little pressure right now. They probably also want as much time between PSVR and a new console as they can get. Wouldn't want your customers feeling like they're getting wallet raped.
