Quote from: Raven on Feb 17, 2016, 01:40 AMOn the bright side, Driveclub managed 2 million sales well less than a year after release and that was rated much lower and with greater online issues by comparison. It was also a PS4 only title which means its potential install base is lower. Street Figher 5's state of lacking content was pretty much expected by anyone paying attention. It also helps that Street Fighter is the biggest fighting game franchise. Mortal Kombat X did very well over the last year despite having atrocious netcode until recently.
Mortal Kombat also sells far more than Street Fighter, though it's played less :/.  But yeah, I hope SF does well.

Did MK really sells more?

SFIV sold close to 8.5m across all version.

You can put together all MK released in the same time frame and it won't reach this number.

Well at least in the US it does. I mean MKX even managed to get into the top 10 on NPD last year.

Also it's not the critic scores that will harm the game, if at all it's the retardedly low user scores across the board, I mean sure nobody takes meta user scores seriously but does the same go for amazon were the game currently has 2/5 stars? Or steam?

I just don't want this shame to affect the long term dev support this game was supposed to get, you know?

Top 10 for the full year I mean, MKX made the top 10 for the full year.

Oh and SFV isn't going to sell nowhere near what SFIV sold its first February there. Maybe half, if it's lucky.

A mini review from what I played....

Store Mode (Prologue): Loved... it was great to know what the chars did before SFV and get the setting to knows what will happen next.
Versus Mode: Not much to say here... works like intended.
Survival: It is a fun mode with CPU AI... to be fair I prefer Survival over Arcade Mode.
Online MP: A lot of issues with connection and lag... the servers are not ready yet :(

Right now it is a 9/10 game for me and the biggest surprise was the Store Mode (Prologue)... I really loved it.
The downside was the online MP... really iced in the first day.

And earn FM is the easiest things ever... just playing single-player I have already near 300k in about 3 hours of play... the game is that generous with FMs.

Gameplay is top nouch and I loved how they changed some chars like M. Bison that is a defensive one in SFV.

Also, since I just saw a person say this on the chertz and I know that person has an account here too, calling SFV fight money system the same as in a free 2 play title is wrong on so many levels. First of all you don't even get close to the amount of content that the $60 purchase of this will net you, even without any fight money purchases, in a free 2 play title and secondly if what Ethomaz said is true then the system in SFV is ridiculously more generous than a F2P title in its handling of these points as well. Calling this the same as in one of those games is nothing but spouting misinformation.

I actually wish they did it like Marvel vs Capcom 2.  Sucks that you have to unlock colours instead of being able to buy them.  Unless I'm missing something?

ethomaz

Colors are unlocked playing the Survival for now.

About the Fight Money if you finish with one Character the Story Mode, Survival Easy and Survival Normal it will give you 36k FMs (it is the rewards and the level up you got with the matches).

16  x 36k = 640k FMs for all characters.

I did only one char Story Mode + Survival Easy + Survival Normal and took me about 1 hour... so I'm confident I can get these 640k in 20-30 hours of gameplay and I have until September to get all.

More modes like Trials, Challenges and the Cinematic Story Mode will give you more FM.

I guess the Year 1 single-player content will give you enough to buy all Characters (100k each) plus a lot of Costumes (40k each).

Quote from: Ludicrous Speed on Feb 17, 2016, 09:02 PM$37 on PC... not quite low enough yet.
Can't afford it? You'd probably have more money if you stopped paying Pi-Guy for naughtiness. You could also try me. My rates are way cheaper.

Ludicrous Speed

I don't understand the reference.

$37 is no big deal but that doesn't mean I'll just throw it away.

But you'll throw away money to have naughtiness with Pi. Priorities, man!

Seriously though. I'm just joking. Using the same kind of humor on you that we all use on each other. Just trying to make you feel like part of the group.

There's no reference, Raven is just being Raven... ::)

Yeah $37 is still a lot of money to pay. If you aren't happy with how a game looks you're unlikely to spend that much.
