PC piracy is over!

And this is not a clickbait title.

DRM software Denuvo made a big splash last year when they claimed Fifa 15 was impossible to pirate. Naturally this painted a target over them, but it still took about a month to crack. Since then a lot of PC games have been using the software to slow piracy down.

However, Just Cause 3 launched with a new version and still is unpirated. It made some news a while ago for going a month, but this time it seems safe for good.

Today it was announced both Tomb Raider and Far Cry Primal will be using the software, meaning now most major pc publishers are in.

Far Cry: Primal & Rise of the Tomb Raider Will Be Protected By Denuvo Anti-Tamper - NeoGAF

Major pc piracy could actually be over.

Hopefully there's no ill effects, but good news.

Anything man made is crackable ;p

Anyways - great news for publishers ;p

I wonder what they're going to blame lack of pc sales on now.

PC hardware? Well it is obvious why that has happened in our mobile world

Seems like there aren't.

All Denuvo does is stop the .exe from being modified. It's not DRM, but rather stops hackers from removing the traditional DRM. Only negative is there have been a few cases of it not playing nice with modding.

I meant the lack of PC game sales.  I didn't realize how poorly worded what I said was.  Until now.

Fake.

I see a lot of piracy on PC yet.

That's because not too many games have been using this DRM.  Though I'd love to see how they locked the EXE.

That is why nobody hacked it yet...

He's talking about stuff like this.

Quote from: Ubisoft CEO"It's a way to get closer to your customers, to make sure you have a revenue. On PC it's only around five to seven per cent of the players who pay for F2P, but normally on PC it's only about five to seven per cent who pay anyway, the rest is pirated. It's around a 93-95 per cent piracy rate, so it ends up at about the same percentage. The revenue we get from the people who play is more long term, so we can continue to bring content."

Xevross

I hope this turns out to be true. Piracy annoys me, people should pay for games that they play. There's people out there who've worked full time on those games for, usually, years. They deserve to be rewarded

Well to be honest I think one group managed to get through it but it was a older version from November of the DRM and according to them it was hell trying to crack it lol.
