McKinley to Denali: In Alaska, Obama to rename tallest U.S. peak - CNNPolitics.com

QuoteHis first step while he's there: officially renaming the country's tallest mountain from Mt. McKinley to Denali, an historic nod to the region's native population, which the White House says is under threat from the already-present threat of climate change.

How do you American guys feel about this?

It's fine, he just changed the name back to what it was before a worth less president felt he needed a mountain named after him. But it's been so many years ago doubt any one really cares.

I have no issue with it but I'm sure someone will claim it's part of his Socialist Muslim agenda to destroy America before he leaves office. Funny how all of the doomsday predictions of how Obama was going to wreck the country have not come true and things improved, albeit slowly.

Mmm_fish_tacos

I really don't see the improvements.

agree with fish about the improvements... I don't trust socialism or government in general though... and EVERY president experiences the "Doomsday predictions" lol
Between Bush 2 and Obama the national debt has increased dramatically... Job participation is at an all time low thus giving false readings on the employment data... illegal immigration is still a problem and neither party really cares to do anything about it... You can argue about what went wrong in the past, but it is better to work towards making a better future...

As far as the mountain being renamed I don't have an opinion on it, but I feel more so leaning towards it being a good thing that I don't care about...

Don't care too much, but my AK gf is quite happy.

I didn't even know the president could do that.

How much of that was Congress and other government elements that the President can't control or has limited authority over? Including things in the works before both even took office. So easy to convince people to blame one person for everything. Congress voted themselves a pay raise? Thanks, Obama.

That's great and all, but too bad the name change doesn't really do much in terms of mitigating climate change...

very true... president always gets blamed or rewarded for things that don't necessarily have to do with their presidency. and again I don't trust the government at large so...

It certainly hasn't improved for me. I was in a grey area for ACA and couldn't get subsidized health insurance but made too much to get Medicaid. Luckily, the penalty got waived and I found a job that provided insurance.

This is after my job cut insurance for part times due to the aca

I've never liked the idea that companies are required to offer health insurance. It puts power in the hands of insurance agencies. They know these companies have to play ball so they can charge high rates. I feel that health insurance needs to either be 100% voluntary or almost entirely a single-payer system. Medical costs need to be reigned in somehow, though. They were ridiculous even before ACA. I got charged $1,000 for an ER visit on a dead night so a doctor could talk to me for less than 10 minutes, have a nurse give me two pills, and send me home. Of that total, $750 of it was basically administrative costs. The pills were $3 combined. The doctor fee was $250.

If they are going to do it, it needs to be free for all. No bull shame insurance. Or open each citizen a health savings account and deposite a million in each account. They spent 380 million on a dang websit . My idea would have cost the same amount.
