Fully agree. Microtransactions in $60 games are soul crushingly bad.

Totally agree. He makes really good points explaining how the "It won't affect me" and "Microtransactions are optional" arguments aren't valid.

Don't wanna watch the video now, probably watch it later if I remember.  But let's be real here; micro transactions are the only thing preventing games from becoming 69.99 USD or heck, maybe even 79.99.  There hasn't been a raise in game prices since they switched to PS2.  Even then, that was because the price of PSX games went down 10 dollars at the tail end of the gen.

Most $60 games do not have microtransactions. Devs can survive without them. Dev costs have gone down this generation for most studios thanks to such things as third party engines and real time lighting. Increasing game scopes can balance that out, but it's not some huge increase like it was with the jump to HD. Plus publishers already throw tons of DLC onto consumers. Aren't those an alternative way to make extra profit besides microtransactions or $70 games?

It really depends on what the micro-transactions affect.
If it's purely cosmetic, it doesn't particularly affect me, so I don't care.  I can fully enjoy the game without a cool hat.
If it's something that gives a player an advantage, well then that just really sucks.
If it's something like a new map, that might not be so bad. 2$ isn't bad for a map, when lots of times you'll see something like 10 - 15$ for 4 maps.
 Depends on how it's done.

Sorry, when I say Microtransactions, I mean like that standard DLC crud that's in Batman and Mortal Kombat.  Though, Street Fighter X Tekken and Dragon's Dogma has Microtransactions.  Dev costs haven't gone down, they've stayed about the same.  When you say third party engines, do you mean in house engines?  Outside of Japan, the larger publishers switched back to in house engines.  When you say real time lighting, do you mean the static hybrid lighting that everyone is still using cause this gen's hardware still isn't strong enough for proper global illumination?
