Edit: Scratch what I said about GOW3. The "3" is referring to an RPG (The Witcher 3). GOW3 did <50K.

Sony domination continues.  

Xbox did good too.  

Wii u is just tragic.  Averaged like 12k a week.

3ds weekly average is tragic too. Nintendo of America is dying.  

And Splatoon is slowing down so they're iced.  

God of war 3 remastered is just pure profit.  WW retail was probably around 120k and you'd expect another 40k digital given the number of ratings it has plus it's high ranking on the monthly psn chart.  

Game was made by 2 people.  Sony made some easy profit and now they've the bonus of putting it up for sale multiple times,  bundling it and eventually on ps plus.  

I'd say they'll do an ultimate collection with all 6 games in 1 bundle before God of war 4 comes out. Smart business people.

I did not know it was only made by two people. That is quite impressive, though it made me wish Santa Monica pitched in a few more people so we could get a GOW III + Ascension remaster collection.

Because collecting data costs money, a LOT of money. The NPD Group gets its money back from companies paying them for their numbers. Leaking numbers pisses them off because it consequently makes them lose money. This was why Aquamarine got perma'd on GAF because the NPD caught her leaking numbers to a select group of people over email.

The only way NPD numbers will ever be free is if someone starts his/her own data corporation and directly competes against the NPD Group a la Famitsu vs. Media Create. It also comes to show you how seriously the NPD Group and GFK take Chertz, lol...

To be fair, both NPD and GFK dont just track video game sales, they track a lot more stuff. So i highly doubt that would make their data free just because they have one competing source of video game sales.

PS4 ahead again  did anyone try out the GOW remaster? I felt like there wasn't a big enough push behind it...could have sold more if they put more effort in.

Can't speak for any other retailers, but at least in our stores, PS4 leads on preorders for Black Ops III and Battlefront (Interestingly, we actually saw a decent switch of XB1 to PS4 preorders with the full announcements of the competitive stuff and the DLC switch.). I'd assume that Sony fostering a "best place to play ______" is the reason that they've now targeted almost every popular genre in the various dominant markets. I mean, for shooters you have Destiny, Battlefront, Battlefield and COD all with Sony, at this point, right?
 And they still manage their tremendous diversity elsewhere, which means the PS4 avoids the 'shooter/dudebro' image, while still appealing to them. It's been very interesting to see the differences as such.
 


If I were Sony, I would be planning a $349 Black Ops III + Battlefront PS4 bundle for Black Friday.

I think they should throw in the nathan drake collection to get people hooked on uncharted as well. I think we can almost guarantee that MS will be at 299 on black friday so if sony stays up at 349 they need to be super competitive.

Yeah I bought it.  It's blowing me away graphically all over again.  Can't figure out how they pulled it off on ps3. Haven't played it in years so I'm enjoying it thoroughly. Nothing compares God of war 3 when it comes to Greek mythology which I love.

yeah, that game is amazing.   priced a bit too high for me because i already have it on ps3.  i'll pick it up on one of the ps+ sales when it drops to $5-$10.  it's definitely worth a few bucks to me to play it again on ps4 but my backlog is too deep to pay full price.

I agree with this. Sony is in a much stronger position heading to this holiday season than the last. However, Halo 5 should not be underestimated even if the franchise isn't as strong as it once was. Yes, Sony has grabbed the COD competitive scene and Battlefront will be further hyped by the movie. But those advantages won't be enough to beat or be reasonably close to the XBO, so Sony needs to be very smart with their marketing and bundling.

Destiny is awesome. I love that the game got poor critical reviews, and yet people don't really care. They like it so they play it.

Hopefully this is a sign that Metacritic's importance to a game's success is waning.
