Thanks man. Like i said, I was trying to show how to build one with wood from lowes that's pretty much already cut for you. But it turns out you really can't with out cutting the top. but the sides you can. I could have but it would have looked really funny. Oh well. I only have about 30 buck in wood, and it's cheaper than a lot of the premade boxes out there.

I might have it done tomorrow, but thursday is more likely.

My dad cut the the but holes for me while I was gone.  I screwed up.  I should have put the start, select and home buttons further up.  Not terrible mind you.  I'll put pictures tomorrow.  It's late right now.

Nice looking good.

Looks like you used the american ssf layout.

I went with the Japanese layout.

So the internet lied to me. The hole size suggested was too small. So i had to sand the piss out of each hole so the button would fit. I went to lowes to find the correct size but they don't carry it. So i had to order one from amazon. I might go back later and finish the side panel which holds the options/share/ps button.

Correction, I butchered the Madcatz layout into an Ameican layout :P.  Or rather I butchered the american layout into Madcatz.
What did you do to make the gap for the joystick?

Well i spaced mine out 2 inches more than a standard stick. Then i used a fostner bit on the back side to clear out space so i didnt loose too much stick hight.

That's what I meant, how did you clear out the space.  It looked like a fostner, how did you keep it level?  Did you time the drill or did you have a low space drill?

No, the drill press has a depth gage on it. I made my first pass and record the number on the press. Then i just went to that debth with the rest of them. If you dont have a press you could wrap tape around the bit and stop when you get to the tape.

Nearly done.

We tried using the dremel.  It didn't work.  We switched to the fostner bit.  One stick is pretty ugly, but we're going to try to clean it up with a chisel.  I'll probably bring it to the plastic shop soon.

I need Lexan for the top.  I'm going to bring my panel over and see if they can match it for me.

I'm putting art on my pedestal.  So I need lexan to cover it.

I bought an airsprayer today to paint my box. It didn't do as good as a job as I'd hoped it would. I guess it's okay. I had to thin the paint 50 percent to get the desired finish. We'll see how it comes out.
