I keep reading gaf about the build quality of their PlayStation 4  controllers. And It baffles me the some seem to have so many problems with theirs and one even claimed they are on their 5th controller. Personally I don't believe that. So I'll ask you, How your controller holding up?

I have two from launch and they are still going strong.

I still have mine, which is about 1,5 years old now. The rubber is a bit damaged on the left stick though, mostly due to a lot of fifa playing

ethomaz

Fine.
But the material didn't look good at all.

I have two the first seems to be worst.

Legend

I have 6 controllers all in all from launch/before launch. Have some slight damage from use on my main one, but nothing affecting its quality to use.

A lot of the rubber on the left stick of my original has worn off, so its uncomfortable to play with that one now, my newer white one is still in good condition. The R2 triggers on both are a bit squeaky

my first ds4 didnt last to long, i wore the rubber on the left thumb before last summer, so 5-7 months, cant remember exactly.  then my second one last from then until about a month or so ago when again the left thumb stick had worn down..

one of them become an organ donar,  so now i have a good controller having used the remaining good stick lol

i bought a ps4 along side infamous.  my ds4 and the white one i bought with destiny are in great shape.

i have friend who bought a launch ps4 and his controller has a dying left analong and he complains about it a lot.   his second controller is fine.

i get the general impression the launch controllers had some issues.

Well mine isn't from launch, unless Iceland only got some launch consoles from the UK a few months after the UK launch (doubt it).

Yeah launch PS4s sold out incredibly quickly

I have a Euro blue one, a black one from launch and the new silver one from the Arkham bundle.  The black one I use on my computer so it doesn't get much use.  The blue one is starting to get some wear on the left stick, but not terrible.

one launch controller stopped charging replaced it with a blue one (o: other launch controller is working fine

Both controllers are flawless, except I accidentally dug into 1 stick.  No other issues, and it isn't that bad.  8 months old I believe.

The DS4 is definitely not as good as the DS3 or previous controllers (seems to only be an issue with the rubber on the sticks though, the rest of the controller is perfect..). I've never had a PS controller deteriorate so quickly before.

My controller still works fine, but the rubber on the sticks is torn apart and coming off the stick. It only slightly impacts gameplay in that your fingers can slip when using it.

Haven't done anything weird with the controller or used it excessively...so a bit disappointed to see that the rumors going around at launch were some what true...even though it took a couple of months to get the control in that state.

yeah rubbers are shaming and worn off, but i still play perfectly fine with them. wish sony would fix the issue.

Mmm_fish_tacos

It seems most people that have stick issues here. So I'd suggest getting some control freaks. And I know it's bull shame that you might have to buy something to fix a factory flaw. But I would still suggest them even if it wasn't an issue. Both ms and sony got the sticks wrong. Concave isn't the way to go, you loose control. And once the ring around the xbox sticks wear off they become a slippery mess. It took mine about a month maybe two to loose their rings.
