Either they are being purposely dishonest, or they're being accidentally misleading. It's just a yucky response either way.

There doesn't seem to be much transparency at Microsoft right now.  I'm thinking there's just too many hands in the pot and not too many people know what's going on.  Splitscreen at 30fps is better than no splitscreen.  There's just more that needs to be put into splitscreen that they don't have time to implement.  Seems like they're just going about everything the wrong way.

Is it possible for 343i to add splitscreen after launch? I know people will rather have everything available from the get-go, but it's better than no splitscreen at all.

Possible but not easy. Local multiplayerh has different needs than online.
