Wow it's already at 3.1 million with 29 days to go. Realistically it should reach those goals.  Sony will be quite happy with forking out 5 million less for this!

This isn't really a mitigation campaign. As said before, the Kickstarter served as a litmus test to see if the Shenmue fanbase is really there or a tiny cult. However, I think the amount of money Yu Suzuki will raise on Kickstarter will influence the amount of funding Sony will give him. The more money he gets on KS, the more confidence Sony will have on Shenmue III's success.

Yeah. Maybe something like $10 mil baseline, plus $1 for every kickstarter dollar. Small budget but definitely enough to make the game what it deserves.

So Shu said that the creator hashed out a deal with Sega to allow him to kick-start it and Sony's third party relations made a deal to announce the kickstarter on stage. I wouldn't be surprised if when they announced it that no deal other than that was in place. Now, sony is in talks of cosupport or publishing ps4 version.

2 million is not enough to create the game. Sony would have had a deal that only if the kickstarter passed would they co-fund it.

Yeah and if kickstarter failed, that would have been the end of Shenmue and Sony would be off the hook.

I don't know how many have played the original two, so it wouldn't be surprising if none of us have played the original 2.  It's difficult to sell something we don't know about.  
If you're not interested, that's your choice.  If you're on the edge of interest, look up reviews and watch gameplay.  Don't think anyone here knows enough or is willing to play the game of convincing you whether or not you should.
How about just pledging money, thatd be a fun game.  Get a game that might be good or bad to your taste.  That's if you like gambling.

Think it hitting 4 million on the 23rd was probably a pretty safe guess.  Give or take a day I say.
