Quote from: Mmm_fish_tacos on Jun 17, 2015, 03:18 PMIt's about to hit 3 million. It might take the rest of the week to hit 4 million. It slowed down a bit. Was hoping to see 3.5 million by now.
It still has another 30 days to exceed 4 million. But the sooner it hits that last reach goal, the sooner we can possibly see a physical PS4 version reach goal.

Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Jun 16, 2015, 06:47 PMIt's slowing down, so I'm going to be very pessimistic with my estimate.
Assuming it continues to slow down, and ends up at about a 10,000$/hour average by the end of the week. It'll take about a week to hit that 4 million goal.  So the 23rd or so.
That rate is about 1/4th the rate it's going right now, but I'm expecting it to drop.
I think even this guess was actually optimistic.  Last 12 hours were only ~160,000.  Or about 13,333$ and slowing down.  That's about 1/3rd the rate when I was posted.  Maybe a rate of 6000$/hour by the end of the week.
Though the 23rd might be realistic.

I think the PS4 co-funding news has really slowed down the donations.

At least the campaign has attained all the subtitle reach goals. Great for Europeans :)

i've never played a shenmue.  frankly i never heard of it until years after its original release.  i have no idea what this is but the digital version is $29.  since i always buy digital this seems like a half price pre-order.   i like half price.   i don't know if i like this game.

I never played Shenmue I and II, but people on GAF who have played it convinced me, at least.

I ran into two of Krejlooc's posts that piqued my interest on Shenmue:

Quote from:  Comment #1Shenmue I got a movie, Shenmue II is backwards compatible on the Xbox 360.

I recommend people at least hold off on watching Shenmue II on youtube or whatever. You play Shenmue I more for the experience of an amazingly intricate handcrafted world, not so much the story. Shenmue II, by contrast, is very story driven.

It's such a slow burn - a lot of people can't get into it because the story is so slow to get started. But it's slow for a reason - it lays an extremely solid foundation with lots of backstory and motivation. Shenmue II ends just as the story kicks into high gear.

I am so ridiculously stoked for this because, as someone who has played a lot of video games in my lifetime, Shenmue remains one of the better gaming stories told. It's a really classic Kung Fu story. It doesn't feel cheesy or derivative, it feels definitive.

Actually playing Shenmue II makes the beats hit harder, especially when it crescendos just as your heart starts beating. Shenmue I, by comparison, has much fewer peaks.

Quote from: Comment #2From all the work AM2 was doing at the end of Shenmue 2, working on generating enormous, organic forests, and what they said in the livestream about taking place in smaller villages, I think it's pretty obvious this one takes place in rural, wooded china.

I am curious to see what Yu Suzuki's forest simulation algorithms look like. Shenmue I and II were awesome because they did 2 very different things - Shenmue I was an insanely intricately detailed tiny city, where everything was scripted for months upon months down to the smallest detail. Shenmue II was, of course, a full simulation of one of the largest cities on the planet. It's neat that they're doing something different yet equally ambitious with Shenmue III. There are videos recently of Yu Suzuki talking about how they generated forests at the end of shenmue II and where the tech would have eventually gone, and how he had created this system to store ridiculously huge, detailed forests into tiny pieces of code that resided a very little space in memory. Crazy stuff, especially for 2000.

I have no idea what type of odd jobs they'll have this time. But man I can't wait. This is going to be so freaking cool.

Also, the soundtrack is really good. I recommend listening to the main theme for starters.

Lots of GAF have been asking this one very pertinent question: What's Shenmue? - NeoGAF
