Because that would cost a lot of money, for a very minor change in size.

Also the empty space allows the HDD to be switched from a 2.5" to a 3.5"

That seems like a waste though.  A discless ps4 would be huge, size wise.

you can get a 2tb HDD from Best Buy that works for around $100

Dropping only $50 doesn't seem the best way to go... should drop it by $100 to really make a dent in the competition

I dont know and I dont like the idea either.

I'mma get a PS4 with the biggest hdd and a disc tray :3 (I'm guessing 500 GB?)
