I always found it humorous how many Americans supported the Patriot Act but then had the nerve to make claims that Obama was going to take our freedoms from us.

Lol. Most didn't even really know what the act allowed the government to do.

People like my dad were well aware of what it allowed the government to do but he was fine with it just as long as it "nailed some towelheads". Obama had no sooner taken office and he was swearing up and down that our rights and freedoms were going to be violated left, right, and center.

It was a step bush took aftet 9/11 to apparently ensure americas freedom.  It gave power to the border and terrorist agencies aswell as giving the right to tap and collect phone records of anyone in the us and a few other thing

yeah, my mom and dad were the same.

my political views are both far right and far left in todays market but feel i'm centered in consistency of thought and equality under law.  i just see so much hypocrisy and i can't stand it.  how can someone be both pro-life and pro-death penalty?   how can someone be use freedom of (from) religion to mandate how/who someone else can marry?  how can anyone justify our crazy tax law.  ect and so forth.

Has there been any instance where the Patriot Act actually stopped criminal or terrorist activity from happening?

Anyways, I'm glad that the bill has expired, especially when I have read Eric Snowden's leaks.

I'm sure it has but more entrapment happened because of it.

Yep. With things like that there is no way to know if it actually succeeded in preventing anything but you can be sure plenty of law abiding citizens had their lives violated by it.

Interesting. I just saw that being used in the Suits episode I watched last night

lol. gotta love the american government. "we are gonna spy on you and tap in on all your phone calls" then they call it the PATRIOT act LOL.

however, america seems like the country that argues, debated and is split on everything. but at the end nothing really happens about it.
