It looks almost all the animated movies are just direct to video.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - this did get a theater release 33 years ago
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman: Under the Red Hood (i don't think this is tied with a series)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

I haven't seen all of these.

Some Justice League movies that I like where Batman plays a big part:

Justice League Doom is pretty good.
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

They could be doing better on the animated and live action side....

33 year ago...   i meant something recent not from my childhood.

or i guess i mean that current DC might fare well under a non-live action set of movies like how spiderman is doing both live action and animated right now.  i'm personally pretty super hero'd out for live action movies but i still have an appetite for animated.  also for batman specifically an animated movie would likely be more kid friendly which i think could help the movie do well.  i know personally i only go to movies in the theatre with my kids.

I just included it, because it's considered one of the best.

DC just finished a trilogy of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, and apparently it was pretty atrocious.

Batman: Knightfall Part I comes out in a few months.

People seem excited about it.

Maybe its okay but it doesn't look quality enough for the theatre.

Quote from: Legend on Jun 24, 2026, 06:17 PMSo supergirl seems to suck, shocker.

I know it's a hot and bold take, but I don't think James Gunn has done the best for DC.
People going after the director. Making comments like that he didn't read the comic the story was based on, stuff like that.
