Yes, but no.

Star Wars 1977 has been released in theaters a bunch, but this is the first time in like 45 years that the original is in back in theaters.

Star Wars A New Hope, got edited by George Lucas in the late 90's and those edits are what have been re-released since.

There's a big fan project called Star Wars 4k77, 4K80, 4K83 who have recreated the original theater releases.

Early estimates were having it at 110+ million opening.  But I think that was early and am sure it will go up.  I've been seeing pretty good early impressions from the premiere screenings.  Plus a lot of his movies tend to have a softer opening with really big legs from all the holiday weekends and not much competition.

I think 2 billion or more is likely.  It may not do quite avatar 2 levels, anything they make should be massive profit.  Or really all profit, since they likely made all their money back plus profit from TWOW.

Anything less than 2 billion and haters will say it's a failure, but is pretty typical with sequels not doing as well.

I mean even 1+ billion is fine in my book. Just enough for Avatar 4 to be safe.

But I also really hope it does great. Avatar 2 was safe. I want crazy new stuff that blows everyone away. And no spoilers or teases, I am going in as blind as possible.

In other news, avengers doomsday trailer next week with avatar I think. Now that could be a flop.
