Quote from: Legend on Oct 01, 2024, 09:38 PMThat is a pretty specific interest so I get the lack of public info, but that's still pretty fun. I used to think of myself as our resident cinephile but you're definitely more into it than me.
I think you're still the resident cinephile, I'm just a lot more engaged with the physical media side of it.

Still feels weird they made a musical.

I tried to post a separate post for joker but I accidentally deleted my reply to you.

Just a comment that I could see you getting into film cameras.

Hunger Games musical got similar critic reviews but ended up being pretty popular with audiences. Maybe Joker will have the same fate.

I may have gone way overboard on some of the early prime deals....

On 4K:
- Arrival
- Ghostbusters 1
- John Wick 1-3
- Truman Show
- Gladiator/Braveheart

Very very nice.

Unless you meant a movie literally called The Arrival.

I didn't know, maybe there was a niche anime movie called the arrival  ::)

Ooof this is going to be a lot.

I have like 40 discs to rip. Going to be fun!

In a bustling street in New York City (with the Empire State Building shown in the background), A dog holding a bag holds hands with a robot who is seen holding roller skates on its neck. A movie theatre is seen from behind presenting the film's titles on the marquee with other animals entering the theatre and others going about their lives.

The Truman Show

Arrival

John Wick: Chapters 1-3
Gladiator/Braveheart 2-Movie Collection (4K Ultra HD + Digital) : Russell  Crowe, Mel Gibson, Mel Gibson: Movies & TV - Amazon.com

Got the above on 4k, except Robot Dreams

Also got two animated series that I think the kids will like. (Rugrats and Jimmy Neutron)

I also went overboard on actual prime deals.

Finally ordered Indiana Jones 4k
The Martian 4k
Interstellar 4k (that's right, I ordered Legends 3 favorite scifi movies in 2 weeks /jk)
Mena Girls 4k

I'll be done for a while...

The new Mena girls was so bad. Turned it off within 30 minutes.

Oh also I finally saw Inside Out 2. It was good. Felt like a repeat of the first but I never rewatched the first so that wasn't too bad. What was up with the gray memories in a few scenes? I only remember sadness making everything blue.

the-pi-guy

I took advantage of the 3 for 2, like 3 times...

A few other things were half off or more. (Indiana Jones was $28 instead of ~$60)

Quote from: Legend on May 13, 2024, 05:22 PMI watched Dune 2.

It was good. First half was a lot like Avatar which was funny. Liked it better than the first.
I remember when I was in university, I took a Science Fiction course (English class).  Dune was one of the books we needed to read.  Our prof said "Just watch the mini-series, it's close enough".  So I "found it" on Kazaa since Space showed it randomly.  I rememeber having a conversation with my class mates in one of the labs about how Frank Hurbert's son had found his (Frank's) notes, so he was going to write out the ending.

Anyways, I saw Dune 2 over the summer on T.V. and it was more or less a scene by scene of the mini-series, just with movie budget.  So I'll assume it was pretty close.

I read books now. Maybe I should actually just read the book.
