I got the Dark Knight Trilogy in 4K and the Matrix Trilogy in 4K on the Amazon Prime Day sales.

Should have waited on LOTR, because that's now on sale too.  :-\

Ah of course. Thanks for reminding me of that new fourth movie.

I watched it on a plane so that couldn't help, but the fourth matrix movie might be the worst big budget movie I've ever seen.

I've never seen it.

Also got the Batman 4K for $8.

Also got Game of Thrones....

I feel like the physical 4K market, probably isn't doing the most amazing.
I've seen a surprising number of instances where the 4k is cheaper than the blu-ray and even the DVD.

Like Puss in Boots right now on the Prime Deal (I know I'm cheating) is 3 cents more for the 4K version vs the DVD, and $2.64 cheaper than the blu-ray.
The Batman was on sale a couple of weeks ago for $10 for the 4K version, whereas the DVD has never gone below $10.97 all year.  And then the 4K version was $8 yesterday.

Maybe I should start buying 4k movies then. I need to get a 4K bluray player one of these days, and I already have a ps5.

I can't say they're cheaper overall, but they frequently seem to go on hefty discounts that the other versions don't.

It was a big reason I jumped on getting Dune last month. Same reason I got the Batman yesterday.

Overall though, it's surprising to me how close in price they frequently are. Quite a few movies where they are within a dollar or two.

There are some big exceptions. LOTR 4K is usually like $80, on sale for $40 yesterday. Whereas the Blu-ray is regularly $10-$15.

Sound of Freedom is doing really good at the box office. Probably will end up being the biggest out of nowhere hit of the year.

The narrative/marketing around it is really weird. By all accounts it's just a normal movie that was made in 2018 yet everything else about it has become pretty political: Sound of Freedom (film) - Wikipedia

Lots of weirdness.

I see Ben Shapiro and other conservatives complaining that the movie was getting ignored by the media.
And then it seems like left wing media/liberal are reporting on it, going "why are these people talking about this random movie?"

I'm pretty sure lots of movies get ignored...

Makes me wonder if some people are stirring controversy to make it more popular.

People are definitely stirring controversy as a form of marketing, but I can't find any going "why are these people talking about this random movie?" since everything now talks about its box office reception like: Sound of Freedom: the QAnon-adjacent thriller seducing America | Movies | The Guardian

Doubt most people would have even heard about this movie if it wasn't for the attached controversy. Its A+ cinemascore is really impressive but traditional word of mouth would only carry it so far.

The Prestige is good.

The Illusionist is also good yet no one ever talks about it. (Haven't seen it in years, maybe I'd think it sucks as an adult)
