There's 3 different things here:
HDR10 => static metadata
HDR10+ => dynamic metadata
Dolby Vision => dynamic metadata

HDR10+ is barely supported.
Dolby Vision/HDR10+ is considered better, because individual scenes can be color mapped/adjust the lighting better for individual scenes.

I guess I've never looked into hdr for movies. Lame that they can't just throw full floating point colors at the screen.

I think the challenge is more about storing the colors in a stream ;)

Split the movie across 4,000 discs if you have to, I want uncompressed 96 bit colors!

Twice as much at the box office and a two thirds of the budget, yet Aquaman will still struggle to break even. Really shows just how big of a disaster The Marvels is.

Pretty impressive how good Aquaman has done since everyone expected so little from it. It's the highest grossing DCEU movie since the first Aquaman.

Watched The Marvels yesterday.  It deserved to have done better than it did, imo.  it was a pretty good movie.  There was some wacky bits in the villain and story, but it was a good standalone entry.

Sounds like Oppenheimer has been #1 for physical media the past 8 weeks.
Also sounds like it's usually a surprisingly even 3 way split between DVD, blu-ray and UHD.

I've never seen The Shining but I thought this was interesting.

When it came out, it was nominated for worst director and actress.

And now it's regarded pretty highly. One of the best movies of all time according to some people.

>In 2017, Empire magazine's readers' poll ranked the film at No. 35 on its list of "The 100 Greatest Movies", and in 2023 Empire also ranked it No. 1 on its list of "The 50 Best Horror Movies

I knew about people disliking the actress, but I had no idea that that extended to the film as a whole. That's pretty surprising.

That's funny that contemporary critiques just wanted a cheap horror film or a direct book adaptation. Kinda interesting that Kubrick had so many movies release to mixed reviews. Glad opinions have changed.

I don't think we need a six and seventh. lol

I'm fine with 4 or 5.  This doesn't need to become a fast and furious situation.

However there is so much potential for stories based on all of the rich Pandora lore.  I think the jake & neytiri stories need to wrap up by 4 or 5

kitler53

i didn't think we needed a sequel...
