I'm entering the movie with zero expectations. I really don't want to be burned by 10 years of hype.

Pezus this isn't the programming thread.

When Cameron sent out the story for each movie, he got 3 pages of notes on Avatar 2, 1 page of notes on Avatar 3, and for Avatar 4, all he got was an email saying 'Holy fudge"

I'll be back on Friday to read them!

Also the first Avatar was on tv the other day so I ended up watching it. Was low resolution live tv but it still looked pretty good. Wonder if in a week it'll look like trash lol.

i'm gonna go see it hopefully in imax after the first of the year.

Now that reviews are out, maybe it's time to predict the box office?

Will it be the first movie to $3 billion? I think it's possible but unlikely. I think a cool ~$2 billion world wide is more reasonable. Not as much money as the first, but still one of the biggest movies of all time. I think it'll have a much bigger opening than the first but worse legs. Covid might help with legs ala Topgun 2, but the Avatar 2 won't be as revolutionary as Avatar 1.

I might need to see it again in imax. I'm seeing it in dolby which some people say is better, but I have pretty fond memories seeing the first in Imax.

all i'll say is:

i saw avatar in the theatre twice.  i will not see sequel until it is out on blu-ray free at the library.

i think you overestimate greatly how much people liked the movie versus liking the novelty of 3D.

Wasn't thinking I would watch Avatar 2, but apparently wifey is thrilled about it coming out and wants us to see it.
