Confirmed.

well fudge.  even more games to have to defend when this gets announced and it's not the AAAA games it has to be to not be complete and utter shame.

Glad to see Sony taking Morpheus very seriously. Morpheus needs to have good software support in order to last long in the VR market.

Yes, but they need more than one team pushing It. They almost need a new team at each studio making games for it.

thatbwould be too much. sony can't ignore the vast majority of gamers that won't give two nuggets about VR.  push it too hard and you alienate all your fanbase like MS did with kinect.

Sony's situation with Morpheus will be more complicated than MS's situation with the Kinect mainly due to the fact that the Kinect was a gimmick that appealed to the casual audience whereas Morpheus is way more applicable to gaming. Based on people's impressions on the VR's demos, it sounds like Morpheus's functionality is already very solid and will undoubtedly improve by launch. It has the potential to be the next big thing and not be a fad. As a result, Sony needs to find a good balance between making regular PS4 games and Morpheus games. Being able to garner 3rd party support will also be a big plus.

How would new tesms at each studio ignore their normal gamers?

If the teams aren't taking resources/developers from other studio projects, then just a central vr studio makes more sense does it not?

How many games would this one studio make?

Depends on how big the studio is, and how they divide up the work.
I think just one, but who knows.

VR games are probably going to be shorter and or minigame focused. I bet this new studio will have a game finished by PM's launch. Plus London Studio is also making vr games.

However I wasn't meaning that what Sony is doing will make as many games as with your plan. Just that having a dedicated vr team at each studio would be less effecient than having all those vr teams work at vr dedicated studios.

new teams at existing studios will be made up of developers currently focused on non VR games.  you are crazy if you think sony is going to double the size of their 1st party by hiring entirely new people to create new teams for each and every one of their current studios.

...and if you are creating entirely new teams then you're already making a "new studio" regardless of the way it is branded.  probably better to just have one new studio and a couple teams in that studio so they can cross collaborate on what works in the VR gaming space not cross collaborate on how to take non VR gaming philosophies and tack VR into that space.
