Cute Pikachu

Welcome to the official Ni No Kuni. Thread!
Here you can talk about all things Ni No Kuni!

What is Ni No Kuni?
Ni No Kuni is a game developed by Level 5 that released in January 2013. It blends Pokemon and Tales gameplay by raising familiars.
Familiars?
Familiars are creatures in Ni No Kuni that you can raise by leveling up. They can like pokemon evolve or metamorphosis as known in game and become stronger!
Why a Official Thread 2 years later?
I just recently finished Ni No Kuni and loved it and I think we will get a sequal soon so we can talk about it here. :)

This thread is in progress and can also be use for ni no kuni  2 discussion.

Pretty good but average jRPG.

Highlights for me were the animation, innocent storyline and characters, music and the overall visual/environment.

The AI could of been better...especially in boss battles. The familiars could of been expanded as well but maybe if they make a sequel or another title within the same universe....it could happen :O

The fetch quests were a bore though XD.

I gave it a 85 out of 100.

P.S. Was also my first Level-5 game/pure animeseque game.

hated it.

evolving familurs put them into such a weak state they were useless until you grind out 10-20 levels.
familurs don't level up if they aren't in your active party.
the party members you aren't actively controlling are too fudgy stupid not to use the crippled familurs

combined all three and you get a gameplay were you have to spend pointless hours grinding trash mobs.  was not a fan.

good story (at least what i saw) and fantastic visuals.

I haven't beaten Ni No Kuni yet, but I'm nearly there. I'm most impressed with the animations, artstyle, music, and story.

Gameplay is mostly fine though I wish I have a wider array of battle tactics for party members I don't control. It's not a game-breaker as I usually just use "All-Out Attack" or "All-Out Defense" as a workaround. Familiars were generally good. However, I would like to see more variety and a better growth system. I don't like how when you metamorph a familiar, its stats are reset.

Overall, it's a very good JRPG by Level-5 and I hope they make a sequel with a bunch of improvements.

85 is average??

Well its certainly not Final Fantasy VI which I gave a 96.

As a jRPG yes - the score mainly comes from its animation, story and music ;p

Gameplay is average like b tier jRPGs on PS1.

So you generally give JRPGs higher scores than other games because of their genre?? Shouldn't you give a score comparing the game to others in its genre? o.O
Like a JRPG with 8.5 sounds like a great JRPG but then it turns out to be average!?

Idk what you mean Basil.

What happened to the thread and my response to Pezus?

Edit: Seriously - I would like to know what exactly happened to the thread for it to disappear and then come back with my response disappeared. This seems really shady and I dont tolerate shady stuff.

Edit 2: Sorry Pi - I didnt mean specifically you being shady :P - just found it weird that one moment I was re-reading my post after I posting it and then it disappeared alongside the thread o.O
