BTW.... Did no one just notice that what was suppose to be a no no for VGC just happen for gaf? Some random posters post got linked and everyone laughed at him...
No one knows who he is.
QuoteDon't talk about specific users unless they're well known outside of that forum. "Oh wow JoeTheBro is such a fanboy, look what he posted" is a no no. These just tend to be like the ones from the thought experiment above. You're only posting here to avoid moderation.

Feel free to talk about random users. "lol look how crazy this guy is on GAF." We don't care who the person is, we only care what they said.

In all honesty I think the spirit of what Legend was getting at was that he doesn't want this site used by members for little reason other than to say what they want about VGC's members. He doesn't want you to use this site for anti-VGC community purposes. If you are then you're not actually trying to be a part of our community. You're just using our forum as a means to spit on them without consequence. Essentially, just passing through. Plus, he doesn't want threads like this to turn into a dumping ground for internet negativity more than actually discussing the fine points of the game.

so? How is that relevant? Because a jackass makes an dog out of himself on vgc then it's off limits but a jackass makes an dog out of himself anywhere else is fine?

...I'm going to assume you're being serious. To be honest, at those image sizes I'd be hard pressed to tell you the difference. Especially if I didn't have a real image to compare them. Plus, considering Crysis is over 7 years old now and it represented the best for its time for a developer that actually wanted to put the work in on visuals, that's pretty dang impressive. For the most part I can still tell the difference between real and not but that is going to become harder as time passes.  I mean seriously. Take those same kind of shots from the best that the previous generations had to offer and tell me it doesn't become increasingly difficult to tell the difference.

Yeah without real pictures next to the fakes, it is hard to sometimes point out the flaws in a cgi/game image. That's why we always say stupid stuff like "I can't imagine how graphics could get better than this." Our brains fill in the detail and our imagination is limited by our experiences. Until you actually see better, you don't notice what can be improved.

This is even very common with cgi and movies. Back in 1933 King Kong came out. When posing kong for stop motion animation, his hair was always ruffled up and matted between frames. The workers worried it looked really bad, but there wasnothing they could do to fix it.

When it came out however, most viewers were amazed and thought kong was real. They thought his hair messing around was from wind. At the time of its release, king kong looked amazing.

Now adays he looks like trash because our brains have grown up with modern special effects. When we imagine a monkey on the empire state building, we imagine something like the one from kong 2006. The 1933 kong by comparison looks horrible.

Movies/games age poorly because new tech highlites the problems of the old
Heck even take Avatar. Back in 2009 it looked 100% perfect, but now just 5 years later it doesn't appear to look as good.

So when comparing game graphics to real life, we really need to put them side by side. Our brains suck at it otherwise.

Also again these photos are only 150p and yet you can tell which is which. At 1080p it's not even close. But then we need to remember 1080p isn't the end all. Screen tech will just keep on improving. In 20 years we might achieve true photorealism at 720p with real time graphics, but by then screens will be 16k and higher bit depths just once again showing games have a lot to go.

No.

However this is off topic. Go here to discuss it: http://vizioneck.com/forum/index.php?topic=1516.msg67213#msg67213

Rorono

I think this week we'll get a BTS video about the characters.

Hopefully.

I also wonder when they'll release the launch trailer.

My guess is Feb. 20th...

I'm more interested about when the review embargo is going to drop, but I'm pretty sure that it's going to be the 20th and that kinda annoys me, don't like this trend of trying to hide reviews until release.

It's the 18th if I'm remembering correctly.

I remember when reviews came out after cause you had to get the game to review it.

I saw someone say that on the chertz so I googled it and all I found were articles from last year saying that the embargo for some previews would end on February 18th 2014, so maybe you've mistaken that for the review embargo?

Rorono

Who cares about reviews lol

Too many people. The point is that once the reviews are out this whole insanity will finally come to an end, there will be the occasional "oh this game is so under-/overrated" comments depending on the outcome of the reviews, but overall the haters as well as the overzealous defenders will finally shut up.

Rorono

Nobody is going to shut up for a while regardless of reviews.. Dare I say reviews, no matter which way they go, will just make things worse. For some time, at least.

Saw that on GAF, it's not new but I had never seen it before.
