Laufey February 16, 2027!!!!!
That's awesome. Sony is doing great on that front. Very pleasantly surprised.

But the logo looks pretty bad to me on that background. Doesn't vibe like it does on the cover art.

capcom released some numbers:

if i'm reading this right then for 2026 (unit sales):
- Digital: 93.3%
- Physical: 6.7%

For Pragmata specifically (revenue):
- Digital: 91.7%

Crazy to think Capcom is being held up by the 6.7% enthusiasts still buying physical.

i guess another way to look at this:

if this 6.7% buying physical today find disc to be the most important thing to them to the point that they leave sony's ecosystem for steam (lol) or nintendo then ps6 risks losing ~6-7 million units.

i still think ps6 is going to have a lot of problems but i don't think discs are going to be the reason.   a console even in the neighborhood of $1,000 is going to be hard to sell.   and even if it was cheaper it's hard for me to think of a reason i really need to upgrade from my ps5.   if we were to make an analogy to movies:
- ps4 = dvd
- ps5 = blu ray
- ps6 = UHD 4k

i've gotten to the point where not only do i not desire more detailed graphics i kind of prefer not to have it.   the visual clutter can simply make the game more difficult to play.

that said,.. i expect a lot of gloating from the disc guys that a lack of physical is why ps6 struggles.

Quote"At this point in time, we are not seeing any impact on our business. But going forward, about the content sales, a large part is already digitised. And therefore, as a result of the discontinuation of discs, we don't see that there will be any negative impact on our business. However, as I already said, the users, the players have attachments, and we have to think about how to respond to that feedback."

QuoteAnd so when we think about the future—and we put in a lot of thought and time, and we cautiously considered this—and we came to this conclusion, and we're going to cautiously move this forward.

Rofl. "we are not seeing any impacts"

So basically as expected.
Sony isn't going to care unless they see actual meaningful backlash.

This was an answer to their investors when they were asked about it.

Today is Sony's Q1 2026 earnings call.
