It is weird. Because when I am just scrolling by, I think the image looks fine. 

When I look at it closer, it looks wrong. 

I almost feel like it's uncanny valley character wise. Like it's too close and yet too far away. The joke picture that Legend posted, I legitimately feel better about Kratos there...  

I feel like Atreus looks a bit too young. He has a few like baby features. 

I think I agree with what Kitler is saying about Kratos. The acting part. 
I feel like I keep looking at his lips. It doesn't exactly fit anything to me.

The more goofy edits I see, the more I'm convinced that half of the problem is Krato's face. 
I'm convinced that Kitler was spot on, here.   

I hate the kids face.  he should be playing a hobbit not atreus.  his face looks very punchable. 

kratos needs a fuller beard but it's the acting I don't like from this shot.  the way his eyebrows are furrowed doesn't fit the moment.  in this scene kratos was stern but not angry.  for kratos this was an important introduction to his "softer" side.  something paternal and not full of rage.  this shot looks like the actor is failing to capture the moment.

Yeah the facial expression is wrong. And the beard is way too unkempt. Kratos be looking like a bum

i'm not going so far as to say that based on 1 screenshot.   i'm just saying that 1 screenshot fails to capture the moment of the game and imo it's less about him not looking like kratos (costume) and more about him not having an good portrayal of kratos in that moment (facial expression).

i do think atreus was casted wrong.
