Quote from: kitler53 on Aug 22, 2023, 01:12 AMI'm not super knowledgeable about the situation but the gist is that having even 1 employee in a state makes you subject to that state's tax and whatever else laws.

most companies don't want to deal with that unless that are "enough" employees.

I know over covid my company was pretty vocal that we couldn't relocate without informing them and that if we did we could be fired.
dang that's kinda crazy.  Must be why the place I'm working with now has most people as just independent contractors so they don't have to deal with the tax portion of it on their end. They have people all over the US and quite a few international devs. But most are contract

I think their are headaches of their own having contractors but yes,.. I believe that avoids the state tax implications as the individual contractor is responsible for their taxes.

There's been a few times when I've seen people speculate about what a studio is working on, based on nothing. And I'm just like "why would you even want that?"

Like I just saw someone speculate that Bluepoint may be working on God of War DLC as their original project.

And I'm just kind of like why??

That's pretty funny.

Although I've only ever played one DLC in my life so I think even santa monica working on dlc would be a waste.

I'm starting to think that Santa Monica is working on a GoW:2.5, (along the lines of Uncharted TLL, Spider-Man MM)

Not spoilers but a person who hasn't played gow ragnarok might think they're spoilers which would still affect their experience.

Spoiler for Hidden:
That'd be cool, but no one wants to play as the kid.

I was only trying to think of a spin off comparable to Miles Morales.

If all you read was my initial post then don't worry, I was not thinking about God of War Ragnarok specifically. Later posts however did get into gow ragnarok content.

Yeah that's what I figured so I stopped there. But thank you for using spoiler tags.

Personally, I am all for these dlc or "smaller games". No need to develop new tech or tools. Just use the same engine to quickly make a smaller game with a good story that I can enjoy. Add some new gameplay elements but keep the core there.

Since new games take 4-6 to make, I find these fill in the gap really nicely

yeah,.. it feels a bit like giving up when I say it because of that last sentence of "because it takes 6 years to develop a game" part but I agree.

I like "new" games but I'm not against a "lazy sequel" to a great game.  these $40 expansions seem to hit the right balance for Sony of more content, limited dev time, and customer satisfaction on price.

On the PlayStation Productions website, there's a video that has the silhouette of Sir Daniel from MediEvil.
So seems likely there's a movie/tv show or something that is of MediEvil.

I wish they could just make lazy sequels again. I want Horizon 3 to really push things and become even more of a player driven rpg, but I'd be happy with a GOW3 or TLOU3 that just refines the gameplay and presents a new story.
