that added lighting is the absence of occlusion shadows.

but the occlusion isnt. look at the rails, they seem more "flat". however this picture is a bad example, its just a part of the game where the textures are low res with no bump/normal mapping and a low res model. they should show us a better part of the game before we come to any conclusions.

But that's the thing, they don't look flat and if you look at the lower image, there's actually added shadow to the right hand rail.

ehh i still see it looking more flat. and on that note, i think its pretty clear, there is no "major downgrade" and that Pi-guy is looking for hits.
