Its characterful approach to shooting reminds me of another less-celebrated Sega game of that time, too - AM2's Outtrigger, a competitive arena game that took the action of shooters like Quake and filtered them through Sega's arcade sensibilities. Splatoon feels like the contemporary shooter as filtered through Nintendo's own sensibilities, benefitting from the company's exquisite attention to detail and lateral approach to design. It all makes for what's quite possibly the most exciting shooter there's been in an age.

i dunno,.. i guess i should remind everyone i'm not really into online multiplayer but this looks soo boring to me.  i mean really how long can you go on painting walls and then repainting them?  the fun part of multiplayer (i thought) was outplaying the other guy.  in splatoon you spend more time interacting with walls than people.  sounds horrible to me.

i watched all 3 videos.

the single player was really repetitive and borning.

the multiplayer music was horrible but at least the gameplay is fast.  a single spawn point though means when "real" players are playing the game it is going to be a campers dream come true and my worst nightmare of a game.

and lol,. can only be played with the gamepad.  multiplayer with no voice chat and no local multiplayer.   this is most antisocial multiplayer ever.

So if they say Mario's Timemachine is the best single player game or Mario is Missing is the best Mario game, I should believe them without a doubt?

Sorry, but I'm not like that - just because a reviewer placed their opinion on a game doesnt mean I'm gonna get hyped over it or believe them. People said the same thing about Xenoblade Chronicles being the best RPG of last generation - I've actually played it and its far from it - its not bad but its not that great as people say it is. Just because a reviewer has played a small portion of a game doesnt automatically make it the "Best (Insert genre) ever".

With that being said, gonna wait for this game to go on the bargain bin like TW101 did ;p. I'll judge the game when I play it.

I wouldnt credit them for saying "Most Exciting Online Shooter" - a reason why I never read reviews but only judge games when I actually play them ;p.

Anyways seeing Splatoon reminds me of how much I miss playing Super Mario Sunshine....I should play it again lol.
