i have played all through batman AA. it was horrible. the gameplay was repetitive and the boss fights were, and i am not exaggerating here, the worst boss fights i ever played in my entire life. i remember you actually didnt fight the joker, but normal enemies in the final boss, what a joke. you just pulled the joker down using a tool, punch him, just walk away from him to dodge attacks and repeat. then you got your croc boss fight, which you just had to throw a batarang at him and he falls down back in the water... and repeat. thats it. ohh and the bane fight, again, throw batarang at him, let him hit the wall.. and repeat. and then there was the scarecrow boss fights. which was just climb, hide, climb, hide, climb hide, till you reach the light. and thats it. ohh and then you repeat it with every scarecrow boss fight.

everything about the game was bad except for the general atmosphere (art design, graphics, and level designing) and the jokers performance. yet it got a 92 meta.. what a joke.
Arkham Asylum is the best Metroid game ever made...

What the fudge. Okay, I admit the boss fights weren't the greatest but most things about the game were very good. What were you expecting in terms of boss fights? Just punch the bosses repeatedly? The scarecrow boss especially was very nicely done imo.
Arkham City improved boss fights though and added lots of stuff to the combat. I like it a lot more than AA.

Every game is repetitive because all you do is press buttons over and over.

i came in expecting a good game, because i heard it was one, and i was excited to play it actually. i can in with an open mind and was left disappointed. after AA no in hell was i going to waste my time playing Batman AC. arkham night looks good, but as i said the fist fighting still looks lackluster.

What do you expect of fist fighting?

its not my job as a gamer to expect something good. its the devs job to make something good. batman Arkham Asylum wasnt good. its as simple as that.

well I respect your opinion but most people seemed happy with it so I don't think they need to change it. They'll update it though, as they did with AC. Really varied combat there.

You know as well as I do that good is subjective.  I personally loved the combat in the Batman games.  If you don't know what you want, you can't have it.
If you tell someone that you want a really nice house, without telling them what you want, they will come up with something that they enjoy themselves if they don't know you at all.  You might be thinking swimming pool, they might be thinking gymnasium.  You might be thinking home theater, they might be thinking private library.
So, it's not a matter of "they need to make something good," it's a matter of you need to know what you want so that the builders can make it for you.  Give them criticism, something to work with that's actually usable.  Not "this sucks, get out of my town."  I really don't like the game, I wish it did more of _______________.

no need to respect my opinion, you only need to acknowledge that its better than yours.

good is subjective to a point, but there is always an objective way to look at it. if there is a game that makes you just run in a circle to beat every level, its a bad game. because it just makes you run in a circle.

but either way, your "if you dont know what you want, you can have it" point really doesnt apply here. i went in the game (batman) without knowing anything about it, and was left disappointed. however i did that many times with other games, like Red Dead Redemption, and consider it one of the best games of all time. i had an open mind and didnt expect much, i wanted to see the game for what it was and what the dev wanted to do, it however, was just bad.

and i didnt say just because, i gave reasons. it was repetitive, the bosses were flat out horrible. the hand to hand combat was just square square square most of the time, and another combo for a few other different types of enemies, each different type of enemy had one combo you needed to use on them, and that was it. the platforming was horrible and clunky, the story had plot holes, and the voice acting, other than the joker (which was superb IMO) was just laughable. i understand people liked this game a lot, but i have a firm believe that a lot of that is due to it being a BATMAN game. if it wasnt a batman game, it wouldnt have had the reception it did and people would have seen much of its flaws.

But that's the thing. It IS a Batman game and that's exactly why it works so well. Rocksteady nailed Batman. They nailed the characters, the combat, the gadgets, the graphics, the sound. In Arkham City they nailed the boss fights, nailed a more open world, nailed variety.

If the game works, it does!

Every game is repetitive, they weren't horrible.  I've seen worse.  The hand to hand combat, you could've used triangle and x, and even other buttons if you wanted.  You could have the same hand to hand combat in Uncharted.
Every thing has plot holes.  As for voice acting, I never complain about that.  Biggest complaint about the first game is the awful lip syncing.
I didn't even care about Batman before this game.  This is the game that got me interested in the DC Universe and the Marvel universe.

AO actually had the best boss fights, but at the same time was the worst in the series. still pretty good IMO. I also believe AC>AA. I thought the combat was enjoyable. The real draw was the Story and Predator missions to me.
All aboard the hype train.
