I have a good friend from high school. He drives me a little nuts, because he likes to make a lot of assumptions about people and things. Basically every problem has a single solution, and a single cause. 

Oh phone troubles, well it's because of 5G taking up most of the bandwidth. 

It doesn't cross his mind that someone might be too far from a cell tower or that the cell tower is overloaded or that there might be a different source of interference.

He does this about practically everything. I was talking about how I was getting assessed for ADHD. And he immediately is like "the source of your brain fog is because of your diet. You need to do X, Y and Z."

I'm like who said anything about brain fog? That's not what I'm going through. 


This whole thing is kind of a struggle because he views this as a strength, that he always has an answer for everything. 

He doesn't have any self doubt about whether his answer is true or nonsense, he's just like things are simple when you understand them. 

At least I personally struggle with it because I'm basically the opposite. I doubt that I have the right answer, and I generally think if you know more about the problem you tend to find that there are like 15 different possible causes.

Probably a weird question, but has anyone ever sent a letter to a company?

It's probably 100% meaningless, but part of me is wondering if it'd be worth sending out a letter to say Crunchyroll and say that it's still worth releasing anime on disc, or send a letter to Sony to say the same.

I'm pretty sure I'm just coping because I feel frustrated with the inevitable march of time.

As a kid I sent a physical letter to DisneyWorld. They responded saying they couldn't take theme park ideas 

I sent an email to HelloFresh a few weeks ago. Just got a basic response but it still felt like the right thing to do.

A friend's mom passed away, and it's hitting hard. 

She lost her son 4 years ago. It's the only classmate's funeral I've gone to.  

I also worked with her for a couple of years at Walmart.  She was a very kind person. 

And I had a lot of respect for her son, even though we hadn't been friends in quite a while.

Part of me also just feels mad.

Life is so short, and harsh enough, and yet people fight over terrible things.

Dang. Yeah I'm over death and 2026 in general. My great uncle(by marriage) is on hospice and likely not making it through the night, maybe tomorrow. Comes on the heels of my grandpas passing in January 

This year has sucked.

well,.. just to pile on i guess.

i posted a bit about it back in jan/feb but leave for my brothers place next tuesday for my sister-in-laws funeral celebration of life party.



...also just got off the phone with my wife and she just got let go.   she got put in charge of a project and then the project was put on hold and now canceled so her whole team is now gone.  but she was feeling this could happen so she's already been job hunting.   she did a round of final interviews last week an is expecting a final hiring decision this Friday.   

so either this is amazing news:  gets paid a double wage for a few months while working the new job and still getting her severance pay.

or this is horrible news:  not saying she can't get any job if this particular one falls though but in the last couple of months she's been looking this is the only one she felt like was a great fit for her.   could be a long unemployment period and maybe she even will have to take a job that is a step down.
