Do you use hdmi cec for other stuff? Could just fully shut it off.

I hate tech designed with the assumption that they are the center of the universe.

every time I use my iPad I get told that "data failed to synch with the cloud.  click resume to turn it on".

I don't want to pay for iCloud.  I pay Google to back up my data.  I turned iCloud off stop asking.

Amazon does similar with their music service.  alexa is always trying to upsell me.

f'ing hate it.

my related to your story my Samsung TV does the same.  switches me from my PS5 to their shaming services if any button on the remote is touched.  stupid cat sits on remotes..

Need to get another remote or something.
As it stands, turning on the TV is the only way to turn on the Apple TV.

I need to stop getting the cheap remotes.

Really annoyed with how work is tightening up.

When I started out, I was completely remote.

Then we were expected to be onsite 3 days a week.

Then we moved to 4 days onsite.

Now, we're still 4 days onsite, but our remote days get cancelled out by any PTO or holidays.  Before we could take a day off, and have a remote day.

Very irritating, only got through this summer by having 2 days (remote + PTO) a week at home with the kids. Otherwise we'd be spending a lot of money on daycare.

I really think that I need to find a different job by next Summer.

A lot can change in ~9 months. I'm really not sure what to do, and how I'm going to make it.

Sent the wrong command to my raspberry Pi, changed literally every file permission on the device  :P

No backups. Will keep trying to fix it but right now I'm waiting for a micro hdmi cable. I lost network access.
Almost exactly 24 hours later, I got it fixed  8)

And having the microhdmi isn't bad. I can now use the Pi for tv stuff here and there.

Just the worst with software like that. I had to explore so many dead ends with integrating my raspberry Pi with my house because everything else wanted to be the top dog manager.

Don't have that problem with my samsung tv. I think the channel up and down button is the only thing that goes to the samsung service. Otherwise it'll go to netflix or amazon if those buttons get pressed. But the amazon button is broken so if you press it, you can't do anything else until you get the button unstuck.

Same with my brother. Started fully remote and has slowly moved more and more in office.

And they got rid of unlimited overtime which he really really took advantage of while working from home.

Well, excuse me.

kitler53

i still wfh 4 days a week and i typically take my PTO to avoid coming into work on Mondays.

they have threatened us with needing to come in 3 days a week twice now but they have no follow though.   they literally cannot track whether or not i'm in the office anyways so it's all honor system so as long as our office manager continues to not care there's nothing pushing me into the office.

my team is scattered though ~7 geographies so coming into the office is the worst for actually getting work done.  i still spend all day on teams by myself but other people's noises disrupts the calls.   ..or more likely my calls disrupt others.
