Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Nov 29, 2015, 12:18 AMA great girlfriend is your closest friend.

Finding one is the hard part...I always have a scenario in my head as to how I'm going to ask a girl at work that I like how their day was...How they're liking their job etc.

Then in reality our conversation goes something like:

Her - Hi
Me - Hey
...And we sit in the break room saying nothing for the remaining 20 minutes. =/

Edit - And if a girl asks me what I like to do for fun what do I say? I sit at home all day playing video games and browsing gaming sites because I have no friends?

FML man I'm so screwed -.-

The only person I have to go to the movies to is my eight year old brother...and I'm 21. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy taking him to see movies he's interested in, but sometimes I wish I had someone to go with when I want to go see something a little more mature. And I'm too self conscious to go by myself.

I go to school and leave 3-4 hours later without having said a SINGLE word out loud to anyone. Don't even know why I'm writing this here I just felt I needed to vent a little.
Legend made me remove this. Everybody riot.

"I play video games, like most people my age do"

Maybe
-"I go walking/hiking from time to time.  Gives me a chance to think about stuff"

If a girl asks about your interests you don't have to go into detail. What is important is getting to know her interests. Let her do the talking, many girls love that. Then just add in a bit between her talk

Another way to look at it is this. If you don't do any talking at all, nothing is going to happen anyways. So you're guaranteed to be screwed. If you strike up a conversation and just be honest you have an actual chance that she might either be cool with that or even be in the same situation. So if your choices are do nothing and definitely lose or try something and possibly win... which is the better option?

Plus, if she's not cool with you playing games why would you want to be with her anyways? That makes you happy and she doesn't approve. To hell with that.

I'm more worried about the fact that, if she says no/rejects me it'll be extremely awkward around her because we work at the same place...If I never had to see her again it would be a different story.

So you're just going to continue making it awkward and unfortunate for yourself? No one said you had to go, "DURRRRR I PLAY GAEMZORZ WILL YOU DATE MEH!?!?!?!?"

Just talk to the baby. Strike up conversation. Just let it happen naturally. Become friendly. If things don't look like they're working then just back off a bit. This really isn't that hard but you're making it sound like the only option is the example I gave above. Your problem is you're so afraid that it's not going to end in her dating you that you're making excuses to yourself to just not do anything at all. Find your spine, grow a pair, and just be yourself. Don't worry about trying to be impressive. Don't put so much stock into it working out with this one dang broad. Stop putting the bedspring on a pedestal. Get friendly. Feel out the situation. Don't make it clear you're into her. Just make her believe she's another person to you instead of someone you want to bang. Then when it seems like she's taking the bait, ask her if she'd like to do something with you at some point. If she turns you down just play it cool like a buddy just said he can't come over tonight because he has to work in the morning. Allow yourself zero expectations no matter how good things look.

Good advice. If I do see her from now on I'll make sure to ask her how she is and if we end up being in the same place at the same time for an extended period of time I'll try to ask her how she's enjoying the job (she's new) and ill see how it goes from there.

Her brother works here too, so I hope he won't get to defensive/protective.

Just be a nice guy.
You'll be fine.
Act like a nice shy gentlemen, don't act like a cocky jerk.

Also, I love how you have the censor turned on.

I tell myself this over and over sometimes but I can never bring myself to talk to them in person. dang shyness.

I wouldn't worry about that. If nothing happens it won't be awkward after a while, just pretend it never happened and it'll be like normal. I know this from experience :)
