after they spend a another few hunder million dollars too? even so, with Van Gal they wont be a top team with a consistent performance year after year.

mark my words, next year Man UTD will be outclassed easily in the champions league. they might do good in the premiere league, but they wont in the CL.

No English teams do well in the CL any more, it won't just be United. They need to spend that much money, the quality of their players is not good enough.

Do you even know how out of date and mediocre Man Utd's players were when Van Gaal took over? They desperately need more players, especially defenders. Darmian is a great get and so is Schweinsteiger, a proven winner. Schneiderlin would be an amazing get, since he is still very young but really talented.

When most of the team is either mediocre or bad you don't have time to build up a great team over the many years it would take if they got young, inexperienced players. MU is one of the biggest football clubs in the world (the biggest?) and so it has a reputation to uphold and money to spend.

Definitely agree with this, Fergie left a team which had no chance of getting near the top, it was old and past its best. There's nothing wrong with spending money and spending money is what they need to do. Grab a top quality defender or two and another striker and they have a good shot at the title I think

Yep, just the fact that they hadn't spent much money in a long time really justifies their spending now.
