I'm getting tired of these shootings. I wish they just stop because this is getting crazy.

Giving so many people access to guns can do that. Guns don't kill people, people do. But those people couldn't kill so many so easily if they didn't have easy access to guns.

While I agree, taking guns away will be impossible.

My hypothesis is that guns have a parabola effect.
More guns will have a similar effect as no guns.
Obviously gun related violence is impossible with no guns, but also I suspect that the more people that had guns would deter others from using their guns for most people.
There have been incidents where a civilian stopped someone with a gun, if such incidents were common place, gun usage would go down I suspect.
Though, there's always the opposite effect that's possible too.
I've heard an argument that taking away guns was the first thing Hitler did.

In my opinion, it's too late for the US to start taking way people's guns. At this point, we need to find ways to prevent to-be-murderers from getting access to guns.

If someone wants to cause harm in the world, it's practically impossible to stop them impersonally. Ban guns, they just get them illegally. Get rid of the gun black market, they just use home made bombs.

I've always believed that the better approach is to attempt to stop people from becoming violent in the first place. Happier and smarter citizens are a good thing.

I agree. The US is an entirely different beast when it comes to gun violence and taking away guns isn't going to solve anything (maybe, slow things down temporarily, but that's it). Your last point hits the nail on the head.

I disagree. All you need to do is look at a country like the UK where guns are illegal. I can't remember there being a shooting here, while I can remember loads in America

Not enough guns in America to prove that point.
There's a very different demographic in the US and the UK.

UK has had shootings too.
Cumbria shootings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dunblane school massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hungerford massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That goes pretty far back, but based on my understanding, the US is more prevalent in the media.
One video describes that the media is different is different in the US from other countries, they are more likely to show stuff like shootings.

What I mean by different demographics is that it's a different environment.
Guns aren't as important in the UK, crime I think is probably bigger in the US.  So any illegalization of things, is going to have less of an effect in the US.

but i've heard of knife slashing being a problem there.
